My husband and I were fortunated enough to stay at the Aurelia during the second half of our visit in Italy. We made the arrangements through Shell Vacation Club. The accomodations were good. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment that could have easily fit 4 people comfortably. Service was excellent and Diana and Paula were a fountain of information and assistance. The breakfast on the roof top was excellent. Gennero was there to greet you daily and help with all your needs.

The apartment is about a 10 min walk to the Vatican. It is a little away for the other sites, but bus transportation is available.

I booked this direct with them by first emailing about availability. Within 20 minutes I had a reply in near perfect English. the quality of customer service continued throughout the booking process and during our 4 night stay.

the only downside to this lovely apartment hotel is the noise. You are smack in the middle of Rome, right near the Vatican (our room had a view of St Paul's). So it's heavy traffic on one side and noisy trains on the other. If you're a light sleeper opt for the train side as at least they stop from midnight til 4 or 5 am so you get a bit of rest.

But you can't fault the location and the price is reasonable if you have more than 2 people. We were 5 (2 adults/3 teenagers) and the apartment suited us perfectly. Breakfast was decent for Europe and the staff were so friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The apartment has a washing machine and dryer (EUR4 per load) which is very handy and there is internet connection available for EUR5 a day although we did have issues with getting it going.

Reception is not open 24 hours so make sure you tell them when you're arriving/leaving and make sure you have asked all the questions and sorted everything out before reception closes.

Stayed here for 6 nights. First time in serviced apartment accomodations abroad but turned out to be a good experience. The reception staff, Diana and Paula were emailing us right after we made reservations and helped put us at ease before we even got there. Took the train from Fiumicino airport to Aurelia which was an experience to say the least. When we checked-in, Ferdinand was a perfect host, it's like visiting a relative. He walked us to our apartment , gave us maps of the city, highlighted all the sights and even suggested places to eat and avoid. The apartment's decor is dated but everything was in working order. Don't expect a pillow-top mattress ( hard mattress) or sleeping in ( you can hear the train and traffic). Genarro, my boys' Italian buddy makes the best capucchino and espresso to complement the buffet breakfast.

Just returned from Rome. Our stay at the Aurelia was without a doubt, one of the most pleasant hotel experiences. It was clean, comfortable and the staff went out of their way to accommondate us. The breakfast on the roof garden was extravagant and there was more than enough food choices for everyone. It was only a short walk to the Vatican and there was a bus stop was nearby. We would definitely stay there again.
