I found Aurelia Residences on Trip Advisor.com and glad I did. The service prior to my arrival and during my stay was incredible. Had difficulty booking room on-line, so used email to contact and the quick responses were truly impressive. In particular, Paula and Diana were an absolute pleasure to work with. Best service I experienced during recent trip to Paris, Rome and Venice.
The hotel is located right by the Vatican, literally three blocks from St. Peter's square and the Basilica. Paula recommended a guide service for the Vatican tour, "Little Angels" that was excellent. Using the guide service, $50 Euro per person gave us so much more information and appreciation than if we'd gone unescorted. Our tour only had six people and the guide. At the end of the tour, in the Basilica, there was only three of us and the guide as some of our members peeled off to see other areas and one was not permitted entry as she had bare shoulders. Nice to know, "tank tops" on women are not allowed in the Basilica.
There is good bit of traffic right next to the Aurelia Residences and apparently while driving in Rome, it is mandatory that one honk the car horn at any and every conceivable opportunity. There is also a Metro line located behind the Aurelia that makes noise however between 10:30pm and 7:30am the neighborhood is very quiet and sleeping was not a problem. I suspect the noise would be worse, at the downtown hotels. There are a number of bus lines that stop near the Aurelia, quite convenient, every three-five minutes. and it only takes five-six minutes to get downtown. We also took the Open Top Double-Decker Bus tour with hop-on / hop-off option and that was wonderful, very educational and a great photo opportunity.
The room or "unit" was huge. After reading the reviews about the size of the rooms in Central Room, I decided to stay outside downtown and have some extra space. I am super glad I did. Huge living room, sitting room, dining room with attached kitchen and big bedroom with access to private outdoor patio was very nice. The bed was a little hard, the shower stall was a little small, but having all the space, the convenient location and the service was truly outstanding.
There are plenty of inexpensive restaurants within three blocks of the Aurelia. The Aurelia provides an excellent Continental Breakfast and Francesca makes an great cappacino (no charge). Depending on the time of year, the Brkft is served in the main building, ground floor or up on the terrace with view of St. Peter's Basilica dome. This same Cont'l Brkft would cost $20-$30 Euro at most four-five star downtown Rome hotels, making the Aurelia Residences very affordable.
I chose to have Paula / Donna arrange to have a car meet us at the airport and take us to the rail station at the end of our stay - and would recommend that. It's only slightly more expensive than a taxi, they pick you up in lovely Mercedes vehicles and the driver from the airport spoke english and provided great information/conversation.
In summary - the Aurelia Residences are an excellent option in Rome. The services provided there are extraordinary. Thank you Paula, Ferdinand, Francesca and Diana!

With my three friends I stayed in the Aurelia Residence for 5 nights and we enjoyed it. The location is great - just some 5-10 minutes walk from St. Peter and near to the centre with good public transport connections. The apartments we got were really big, nice and clean, equipped with everything we needed. The staff is wonderful, always very kind and always willing to help. I confirm that the spot can be a little bit noisy at times, but I think it's not that bad. Aurelia Residence is a very good place to stay. The great staff and good location are the highlights.

We booked this hotel almost as an afterthought as it was not quite where we wanted to be, our other choices were already booked up for September. There are several buildings on the property surrounded by a wall and gardens right across the road from the walls of Vatican city. The area is quiet and the bus into the centre of the old city runs right past the front gate. The train is a block away. There is one good restaurant(the Goose) and one awful one within 2 blocks. We felt very safe after dark as the neighbourhood is obviously family oriented. The room is an apartment; one big bedroom with a double bed that can be separated and a big daybed in the living room which happens to be bigger than mine at home! There is a well-equiped kitchen in between the 2 rooms and a good sized bathroom(no bathtub) The size of the space was almost silly for Europe. The decor is a bit tired, but who cares when it is clean, HUGE. Breakfast is served on a rooftop terrace with a view of the dome of St. Peter's. The staff go out of their way to be helpful, providing maps and tips and cappucinos. Its not the Ritz, but it delivers what it promises.

We staed at the Aurelia Residence for 5 nights in May, 2008, and LOVED it. We booked a one-bedroom apartment, and on arrival were informed by the delightful Paula that we had been upgraded to a two-bedroom apartment in the same building as the reception. Our apartment was so large, with marble floors and beautiful furniture, it was just lovely.
All of the staff had great English, were always happy to help with questions and to give advice, and to play with our toddler.
The first couple of nights were a bit cool, as the central heating is turned off in mid-April, but the blankets provided kept us lovely and warm. The hotel is in a good location, we really felt we were escaping the tourists the closer we got to Aurelia as we came home each day. There are some lovely restuarants nearby (child friendly) and a supermarket, as well as local food stores.
Great capuccinos with the breakfast buffet.
We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Aurelia Residence and it was a fantastic place to stay.

I stayed with my girlfriend in an apartment which we paid approx £280 each for 3 nights - this included flights from England, this was booked through lastminute. We were given an apartment which was HUGE! The apartment had 2 bedrooms (a double and a twin) and there was also a sofa bed for another 2 people. The double bed was very comfortable (quite firm) and we each had 2 thick pillows. The double bedroom was the only room with air conditioning which was fine for us as it wasn't too hot in October.

The bathroom did not have a bath but the shower was quite big. The bathroom (and the apartment generally) was very clean and well presented.

In the living room was a sofa bed, tv with vcr and digital satellite, hi-fi unit, small dining table and chairs. The kitchen unit had microwave, gas hobs, fridge with ice box and dishwasher.

The reception staff speak perfect English and are very helpful and friendly. They offered to book museums, tour buses restaurants etc. We took up an offer to book a restaurant called Alfredo's but this was a huge let down. I would recommend travelling on the '110 open bus' tour bus, this operated more regularly than all of the others and prices between companies are all similar.

We made our own arrangements to transfer from the airport to 'Termini' - Rome main rail station and connected with a local train to go to Station San Pietro. Due to flight delays we arrived at the apartments at around midnight. The little old lady who greeted us didnt speak a word of Englishbut she presented us with a welcome letter in English telling us where to go for breakfast the following morning.

The breakfast is a typical continental breakfast. There was a range of cereal (including kids cereal), ham, cheese, bread, hard boiled eggs, pastries, fruit, juice etc. Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace which is lovely on nice warm mornings. The waiter is friendly and provides the usual coffee, hot chocolate etc. Breakfast is served from 7.30 - 10.30am.

I have seen a couple of messages here complaining about the proximity of the train line. We never heard any trains between 11.30pm and 8am and we are not particulalry heavy sleepers.

The only negative we had was with the church bells! We like a lie in so we were a bit disappionted to be woken at 8am every day by some church bells but it got us up and out!

Elderley and/or disabled people may have some difficulty in that the apartments are located on a hill (not overly steep however) and that the last 25 meters of the hill the footpaths are very narrow.

The location is excellent for those wanting to visit the Vatican - just a 5-10 minute walk away.

When we go to Rome again we will definetly stay here.
