We booked via internet a "deluxe quad room" for my wife and my two children visiting rome for the first time. I called before booking just to assure about the quality of the room.
my wife arrived at mid day, asked to see the room, they told her it was unavailable.
when I arrived later in the afternoon, what a disappointment: instead of a deluxe quad room, we had a basic double room in very poor condition, with two extra single beds on each side of the double bed...so they were crammed in like sardines.
after a first complaint at the reception, they propose to change the room the day after...but of course they insisted that I paid the full price. I refused.
as soon as I told that we were leaving the hotel, they proposed to show us another room: larger but still in poor condition and definitively not deluxe. I wonder why this room suddenly became available?
I confirm that we were leaving. as they insisted on us staying I asked to talk to the manager: he was apparently unavailable, pretending he was on his day off (friday afternoon). I insisted that the receptionnist called him, which she did but refused to let me talk to him directly.
We ended leaving. They have refused to give us back our credit card pay slips -- they took two pay slips, one from my wife on arrival and one from me when I arrived!
