The Panama is a quiet hotel, in a quiet part of Rome, the staff are friendly and cater for english speaking guests. Continental breakfast is adequate, with a good range on offer, served on an airy patio. Rooms while clean and comfortably furnished are however the smallest we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world! We class ourselves as keen walkers but this hotels location is most certainly not convenient for Romes main attractions. With public transport links around 500mts away and the travel time into the "termini" about 15min you will waste a lot of your time getting to/from Rome. PS Don't be tempted to get a taxi they are extortionate @ c.35 Euros to the centre, get a travel pass and mingle with the locals!

My sister and I have just spent a wonderful long weekend in Rome and we couldn't have choosen a better place to stay. The check in process was quick and efficient, just what we needed after a long delay at the airport. Our room was clean and airy, with a view of the hotel garden and two confortable single beds.

Aks the hotel staff about some local restaurants, they will give you some great recomendations.

The area is nice and quiet, ideal if you are looking for a place to relax after a long day of city sightseeing.

I have already recomended the hotel to all my friends and family.

My new wife and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon, and booked mainly on what we'd read here. I really wish we hadn't bothered! I honestly can't see why so many people like this hotel.

We checked in for 5 nights and for the first 3 were put into what must have been the worst room in Rome - barely even a single room, they told us it was a double, no room to open our suitcases, and a bed that moved like we were lying on a dinghy in the middle of the ocean!

After complaining, we were moved across the corridor to a slightly more spacious room, but not before personal items from our original room had mysteriously disappeared. After a bit of persuasion to the desk that this had happened, the bellboy eventually returned with the items, but we got no apology or explanation.

Also, the buffet breakfast was of poor standard and, even with the above incident aside, the staff were thoroughly miserable and unhelpful.

Fortunately we decided not to hang around the hotel too much during our stay, and although it took the shine off our visit, Rome itself made up for this hotels failings.

I'm not normally a person who likes to complain, but stay at this hotel at your own risk!!

My husband and I stayed at the Panama Garden over Christmas. The hotel is clean and pleasant enough but has enough negatives that we will not use the hotel again.

Firstly, the Hotels website lists many inclusive items that just don't exist. I could name them all but they are too numerous to list. The biggest complaint of what is not in the room was a coffee/tea maker. I haven't stayed in a hotel in years that did not include a coffee/tea maker in their rooms. The refrigerator in the room did not work either. This seemed to be a problem in other rooms because I heard others complain of the same thing at the front desk. Also the heat in the room could not be turned on in the daytime. They must have a central control on it because I could get no heat till 5pm. Also we could not get a cup of tea after 10:30pm at night. After walking in the cold all day and evening my husband and I asked the girl at the front desk if we could get a cup of tea. She curtly snapped "Bar is closed" and could have cared less. The dark haired girl on the front desk was very rude the entire time we stayed. We were not the only ones that found her to be. On Christmas Eve we asked for her help in getting transportation to the Vatican for midnight Mass. This dark haired girl flat out lied to us telling us there were no taxis or buses but if we left immediately we could get a trolley (this was at 9:30 pm). We hurried the 5 blocks to the trolley station only to find out all public transportation stopped at 7pm. Luckily a nearby hotel secured us a taxi. I wish I knew the name of that hotel because I would recommend it. Our entire stay we could not get the front desk to help us at all. When we inquired to the front desk where we could have a Christmas Day dinner we were told that everything was closed and we could go downtown and try to locate something ourselves on the day. They made no attempt to try to secure reservations for their guests. We ended up at a very poor Chinese Restaurant with two others from our Hotel also there.

The internet that they say they provide access to is located behind their front desk. You would never know it was there unless you asked. When I asked for it I was told I could use it if only for a few minutes. It is a very uncomfortable place to check and send email.
The rooms are so small that you cannot move around in them. Other couples there at the time asked for an upgrade but were told they could not have one. The rooms are clean but that is about all. You could spend no time in them because you would go stir crazy.
The breakfast is okay if all you want is pastry. But the guy that worked the breakfast room in the morning is the grouchiest man I have ever seen. Asking for a second pot of coffee was met with such a fuss that I hated asking. He did not want to be there obviously.

This hotel is very far from City Centre. You have to take a bus. Ada Park can't be seen from the hotel because there is a tall wall all around it. Be careful when walking the streets near the hotel. We constantly dodged Dog waste. Obviously no one picks up after their dog.
I could go on and on but I think you get the idea about this hotel. The only thing good was we only paid 325 euro total for six nights. If I had paid any more I would have asked for my money back.

Cannot recommend to stay here.

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by name and this set the tone for our stay. We had asked for a room with a balcony and this was provided for us. It was on the top floor and it gave a country type view over the trees in beautiful Ada Park across the road.
Our bedroom was fairly small but very comfortable and well equipped. There is plenty of space in the public rooms and the buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and those behind the reception desk were outstandingly good and helpful especially when we became the victims of pickpockets. Watch out - they are world class experts at this in Rome!
For those looking for a three star hotel this is one that we certainly recommend. However those thinking of staying here should note that it takes up to an hour to get into central Rome and to St. Peter's on public transport which can be very crowded in the rush hour. But the advantage is that you return to a quiet and pleasant neighbourhod.
