Hi,
I am shocked in reading so positive reviews on the Panama Garden Hotel in Rome! I have been there on june 2005 for two nights. Apparently, the first impression was good enough and acceptable, except a not very professional receptionist I talked with.
Well, I went in my room accompanied from one person of the reception. They had some problems with the key that did not succeed to open the door, but this was not a problem. Once in my room, the first impression was good enough, but I could very soon see that the green fitted carpet was PLENTY of white hairs and powder. Terrible! Terrible! I found a pair of hairs also in the bathroom and under the beadspread!!!
But perhaps the most terrible thing was that I asked gently to the receptionist to make to pass the vacuum cleaner on the moquette ufficially "because I am allergic to the powder" and another hotel employee that listened to my demand and that was not a receptionist behind the desk took part and told me with an extremely disagreeable tone that "in the hotel the vacumm cleaner is passed every day". Well, while I made present that if I had made one demand it was because I knew what I said, the result was that finally I had the hairs of someone on the floor for all the duration of my stay.
The hotel gives a good impression when you arrive, I had a first good impression too, but then I had one of my most terrible experience in a hotel in Rome, expecially for the professionality and the hygiene lack.
