Oh dear! This hotel was a recommendation from Thomas Cook holidays as a signature favourite but it definitely was not ours!! Me and my fiance stayed in a double bedroom for a week in mid summer. It was absolutely boiling in Rome at this time and the reception, foyer and dining area definitely reflected that, it was baking!!! No air con. We were shown to the fifth floor by the porter and was taken to a box room in every sense of the word. It could just about fit the double bed!! There was tv and air con (air con was leaking water on the outside). One redeeming feature was the small garden patio which overlooked...well just trees!! The door to the patio would not shut and was actually proped up by a chair, luckily we are on the fifth floor!! Bathroom had a shower cubicle which leaked water onto the bathroom floor so those who read this review and end up with our room please be careful!! By the way, if you want to go outside the patio beware of the water sprinklers that go off unexpectedly, good in the summer for cooling off I suppose!! Towels and complimentary toiletries were not replaced all the time. The room safe didnt work. Worst of all, hot water wasnt always available!!!!
It was raining when we stayed and there were no seats available for everyone in the breakfast area, we had to queue!!! No air con in that area, baked like apple pie while we were waiting!! Breakfast was definitely continental: red orange juice (extremely sour and sweet which grew on u... when u've had nothing to drink) and lemon juice (sour to the max), couple of plain buns and sweet croissants, pepperoni and what looked like spam, zero taste yoghurt and cereal (which smells suspiciously like dog food but luckily for me it wasnt). Well, at least it was a buffet!!!
As for the American Bar and Grill, we were informed that there are better restaurants out there and with good reason too. We made sure we listened to the porter given the state of the room and stayed away.
Location-wise...man!! It is an absolute trek to the city centre!! Take the bus people cos otherwise you'll spend most of your day travelling to and from the hotel!!! Definitely not location friendly!
Redeeming features?? At least the staff were nice and friendly. Thats about it. For the price, well, those of you who have stayed in a Travel Inn in England should know that this hotel is poor compared to that and its roughly the price!!!
We did go downstairs and spotted that some of the other rooms were not box-size so anyone contemplating coming here should opt for an executive or higher, do not go for a double!!!
This place would be lucky to get one star...
