We arrived 10AM on a Friday too early for check in, the hotel staff was very helpful they held our bags and gave us a map & directions and we set out on our own to see rome. The breakfast is excelent and plentiful the staff is wonderful. We were amazed at how close we were to the Vatican Museum 1 block and up the stairs a 5 min walk. the Metro is equally convenient, The area surrounding the Hotel is safe we often came back after site seeing on our own at midnight. Mass at the Vatican with the Pope was amazing we walked over at 8:30 with no ticket and waited in line which moved amazingly fast we walked right in. I will warn you the mass is 2 hours long. St Peters was breath taking all lit up. I would recommend this hotel to anyone interested in touring rome on their own, the staff, location and the Value exceeded our expectations.

The Hotel was what they said it was. It met all of our needs as far as price, cleanliness, and location. It is a 2 minute walk to the Vatican Museum, about 5 minutes from the Cisco Metro station. We enjoyed the free American Style Breakfast. The room ample size, Bathroom was a little small but workable.
There is a wonderful mexican restaurant across the street.
You can get to the hotel without a Taxi by taking the train to the Tremini station, and transferring to the A line to the Cisco station. aloow about 30-45 minutes.

The neighborhood feels safe, although you will find that much of Rome is litterd and covered with graffitti. Once you get past that, and get into the sites, you will enjoy it. If you are looking for a good value hotel for a home base on your trip, this is a nice place.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for writing about us.
I am happy that you spend a great holiday in our hotel!
I would like just to precise for those who are not familiar with Rome, that the closed metro to our hotel is called Cipro ;)

Thank you again for your time and have a great day!

I stayed here with my wife in May 09. Service was nice, breakfast was great! Lobby and entrance was tiny. But after having visited Europe I now realize that bell boys and "beck and call" service and huge lobbies and gardens in a 3 or 4 star hotel is something you can enjoy only in Asia.

The bathroom was tiny, but sparkling clean with hot water and decent pressure. The room was nice and clean. The TV showed only the english channels CNN & BBC. It was a bit pricey, but I guess that comes with the Best Western brand.

It was maybe a 10 min walk from the metro. If you look at the map of rome, this hotel is immediately approx. 1-1.5 km to the north west of the St. Peter's square (I'm talking about the entrance, since you can't enter St. Peter's Basilica from the back). It might be the old part of rome, but it's not the historical centre where all the sights are... all the sights are immediately east of the river in the area surrounding Piazza Navona. It is, however, walking distance to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel (which is part of the Vatican Museums premises).

Please keep in mind that in rome the historical centre is where you want to spend your day, and there is no metro station in that area (other than Spagna, which is near the spanish steps and the main shopping streets and Colloseo which is opposite the Colloseum...both of which border the historical centre and you have to walk 1-2 kms to the sights in the centre).

All in all, great hotel and a nice location. Next time however, I will try to find a hotel bang in the historical centre or near the spanish steps, so when I step out, I am where I want to be.

I traveled to Rome for a 9-day business trip, and decided on Hotel Spring House based on many reviews. My room was not ready when I arrived in the morning, but to make up for that, and to make sure I was comfortable during my relatively long stay, the manager gave me a small but gorgeous room on the top floor, with a balcony. The balcony had a trellis covered in jasmine flowers, and every morning I drank my coffee there and watched the sun rise, and listened to the nearby church bells.

I loved the neighborhood as well: stately and elegant, a stone's throw from the Vatican Museum. The staff were gracious and helpful, and as a woman traveling alone, I felt protected. It's really a special place.

Stayed five nights, staff is very professional and helpful. Nice little bar with friendly bartender and the best breakfast in Rome. Clean, lots of amenities. Vatican Museum is close, but it's an uphill walk. Small room but I would stay there again.
