We recently stayed two nights at the Hotel Corot. The reason we selected this hotel was because of its close proximity to the train termini in Rome. When you depart from your train you make a right out of the station, cross the street and walk less than half a block to your hotel's front door. We arrived at 8 in the morning and our room was available. The hotel staff was pleasant and helped us with our bags into the small elevator to the 3rd floor. Our room was clean, queen bed, TV, safe, mini-bar, hard-wood floors with a large bathroom. It had a walk-in shower, toilet, bidet and sink with a hair dryer, large fluffy towels and plenty of toiletries. The air-conditioner was not on because it was too early in the season but we had a large window and the room stayed very comfortable. There is quite abit of noise from the street below but with the window closed you didn't notice it. The breakfast room was very nice and the choices to eat were great (cereal, sweet-rolls, eggs, hard rolls, fresh fruit, cheese, ham, coffee, latte, tea). I would highly recommend this hotel for the traveler like us staying a couple of extra days in Rome after a cruise or just for a convenient place to stay while in Rome. All the main attractions are close by for walking to or by using some type of transportation. We felt safe and wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

Stayed at Hotel Corot, Rome for three nights as a single traveller. Actually had a single room which was very spacious, clean and the bathroom was modern and clean. Safe deposit box in every room.

Very helpful staff with more than adequate English. Enormous choice for breakfast.

Hotel is no more than 100 yards from the Termini and the drop-off point of the airport buses so is convenient but it is quite a walk to the main Rome tourist area. The 'dodgy' goods sellers outside the hotel were not a problem.

The hotel is near to Termini station with good connections for public transportations (subway, bus) in order to cover all the major atractions.

The small entrance is for Corot hotel and his sister hotel, the elevator is very small (only 2 people), nice modern breakfast room (breakfast buffet with ham, chees, eggs and cereals, coffe-you can ask for a regular or espresso, very good).

The rooms are very small, but very high, without balcony, there is an oudour (smell of "old") in the rooms.
The bathrooms are big, renovated and clean.
We stayed for 6 nights in march '07 and when we arrived it was raining, it was chilly in the rooms and we have to go down to the reception and ask if it possible to turning on the A/C centralised; the receptionist (few days later I was found out that was the owner himself) did not agree at the beginning but at the end he activated the A/C sistem in our room.

We visited other hotels in central Rome (few of them 4* hotels) and we agree that there are problems with accommodation (many of hotels are in the historical buildings, so there can not be renovated totaly, no possibility for balconies), so Corot hotel offers decent accommodation but nothing more, do not have high expectation.

Apr 22, 2008 | Trip type: Friends getaway

I have just recently stayed there with two friends in a triple room "211" the room was very spacious and the bathroom was very modern. The walls looked damp but I think just needed cleaning. The breakfast at the hotel was very nice and plentyful the red orange juice was gorgeous and the capacinno was too. The tea unfortunately wasnt very nice (probably the water). The lift only hold 3 people max and thank goodness we were on the 2nd floor as you couldnt catch the lift for love nor money when checking out with your suitcase, so had to drag it down the stairs. The staff are very helpful and friendly and booked us a restaurant 'Gusto very nice, and taxi to. The location was very handy although not very in the middle of it all, which I think I wold have preferred as we had to get taxis to and from everywhere. There are people selling dodgy goods outside the hotel but to be honest they never bothered us at all.

All in all I would recommend this hotel for price and quality but not for being in a central location.

My partner and I stayed 4 nights at this hotel. Although as said in other reviews the surroundings are a little rough we decided to take a chance. I am glad we did as the hotel was in a very convenient location, literally 1 minute walk to the Termini (Main station) with connections to all parts of rome and a great starting point to explore the city. Also the main bus station is next to the station and the open top city bus tours start from here. The area itself is not really touristy but we never spent much time here. The station itself has many modern shopping facilities and there are many restauants in the surrounding area if you dont like venturing to far from the hotel for a meal in the evening.
The hotel was just right for us. Not luxurious but very clean and comfortable rooms with a modern bathroom. No bath but a very impressive shower unit, which I must admit we had a few laughs trying to figure out how it worked as there were many different features. Our room was cleaned daily to a very high standard. The staff all spoke very good english and were polite, friendly and helpful. On arrival we were checked in with no problems and one of the staff took our cases to the small lift and said she would meet us outside our room. She had to walk up to the third floor as there was only room for us and our case. She met us and showed us how the door opened and how the lighting worked and wished us a pleasant stay. There is a safety deposit box in the room at no extra charge and a useful well stocked mini bar. There is a television but only the news channel is in english and the occasional other programe if you can find it. Breakfast was ample cereals ,fruit, toast ,cheese , meats, yogurts tea and coffee and the breakfast seating area was very pleasant.
On leaving the hotel we asked the reception if we could leave our luggage as our flght was due in the afternoon and it was no problem for them.
Rome is a beautiful city and even 4 nights was not long enough for us. A recommended day out of the city out is to go to Tivoli and visit the villas with the fountain gardens. It was a very pleasant and memorable day.
Would definately love to go back to rome and would stay in the Corot hotel again without hesitation
