My friends and I stayed here on Priority Points. It is not near anything including a little café for breakfast. But we had the best room ever. The beds were very comfortable, the room extremely quiet. The restaurant was terribly expensive. The lounge was excellent with a w onderful piano entertainer nitely. The drinks actually were standard price. There is a free shuttle bus into central Rome that runs frequently but the bus fills up fast and people push and shove even if you are 1st on line. The public transportation bus is just outside the property and the hotel staff can sell you tkts and give advice of route for bus and metro. There is a lovely spa, hot tub and indoor pool to rejuvenate your tired feet. Even tho it is out of the central Rome, it is nice to come back to a quiet place where you don't hear all the street noises.

This hotel was booked for us by Celebrity Cruises for a 2-nite stay prior to our Mediterranean cruise on Equinox. No doubt our excessive charge was due to Celebrity's booking. Since we've had previous negative arrangements with Celebrity's bus arrangements pre- and post-cruises, we opted to book our own travel arrangements to and from the hotel.....thereby adding even more costs to the booking.

The worst part, however, was the hotel bathrooms. By European standards, their size is adequate but the large-size bath fixtures combined with the very slippery floors, make them extremely difficult to navigate. The bathtub/shower has a very high side, making things even more difficult. Our son and daughter-in-law were also on the cruise with us...younger people who are very active and agile...on the morning of the cruise, while attempting to exit the shower, our daughter-in-law slipped on this hazardous floor, fell and hit her head on the toilet....so hard that the toilet seat was broken and as we learned later, she broke a major bone in one leg.

The hotel's handling of this event could best be described as chaotic.....they sent the doorman to invesigate. He said that the leg was not broken, though later xrays showed that it was.....needless to say, although our daughter-in-law made it to the cruise, it was a very painful one for her.....the leg was never set in Rome or on the cruise due to a variety of circumstances and more than 2 weeks later, she is finally getting the needed medical treatment near her home in the USA!

We won't return to this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel just for one night last week... As soon as I approached the busy reception desk, I was welcome by the corteous smile of one of the receptionists Marianna, that while she was busy dealing with some customers kept regular eye contact with me to reassure me that I was not forgotten. This was already a good start. The check in was fast and pleasant and the rest of my stay was really nice and smooth. The team, in every department was corteous and smiling. I decided then to share my feeling in person, with the Front Office Manger, and the Hotel Manager. I have found in front of me the same friendly, graceful and relaxed attitude. No more to say... A fantastic Customer Service! a Great Team! ...well done guys!

As other reviewers here have noted, the "St. Peter's" appellation here is a loooooong stretch.
I'm not sure how many Metro stops the Crowne Plaza is from St. Peter's, but it's a few.
That said, we enjoyed our stay, although we spent a lot on taxis and public transportation.
We had a spacious room on a quiet floor. Everything was quite clean and the cleaning service super. The restaurant is OK but expensive; still, it was a good place to have dinner the first night. The entrees are only passable steamtable food but the antipasto, salads and desserts are great.
Breakfast, at 18 euros, isn't cheap but it is very good. One complaint: If you say you're serving until 11:30, don't start moving the food out at 11:15. I deserve the same breakfast if I show up at 11:10 as someone who comes at 9:10 for my 18 euros.
Desk personnel are a little indifferent but most of them get you your information ... eventually.
We didn't use the spa or pool so I can't comment.
Nor did we use the shuttle, simply because it doesn't run very often and we didn't want to be tied to a timetable.
The room was big, well-furnished, and pretty typical of a Crowne Plaza everywhere -- they won't knock your socks off with their splendor, but they're nice enough.
Over all, I liked the place.
But DO NOT imagine that if you choose this hotel that you are anywhere near the center. Get out your bus and metro map and be prepared to use it a lot!

I stayed at this hotel in October. The room was clean, had a nice balcony overlooking the tennis court. It was hot at night when they cut the air conditioning off. Had no trouble getting wake up calls or towels.
The front desk staff, for the most part, were rude. Once I came to the desk to ask a question about the bus and the staff person was talking to someone else so I waited my turn. when he finished he just completely ignored me! Other staff were milling around and no one said "may I help you?" I finally raised my voice and got their attention. There were similar incidents like that. I don't know if they are sexist or racist or just RUDE!!!
The night staff was a little better except for the tall, thin grumpy one. Ugh!!!
The piano bar in the lobby was a nice place to go for drinks in the evening. Fabio, the bartender, is very nice as is the piano player. I enjoyed evenings there and they stay open until 1:30 a.m.
We never had a problem with the shuttle. You cannot get it from 12:00-3:00 because of lunch. It was never overcrowded.
We took the bus into the subway stop much of the time because it was so convenient.. You could walk there (in terms of distance) but the narrow streets with no sidewalks makes it prohibitive. Don't try it!
The bus service is iffy after 10:30 p.m. and one night we had to get a taxi. The driver took us back to the Vatican and all around, pretending he didn't know where we wanted to go and when I became extremely agitated he took us to the hotel, mumbling about how he has a family to support. I did not pay what he asked and got out. I peobably shouldn't have paid what I did pay. Look out for that kind of thing but it really doesn't happen much.
I went to the breakfast buffet once-18 euros for waht is essentially a continental breakfast with some sausage (ugh) and runny eggs. The fruit and juice (and champagne) were great.
The staff is good about helping to arrange tours and we took one to Capri that was excellent. You can get to Florence by just taking the metro to the Termini and buying a ticket , then just hop on one of those stop and go sightseeing buses that comes outside of the Florence station and you're good to go.
All in all I liked the hotel but would probably stay closer in town next time.
It was quiet at night. Each morning at 7:00 a.m. the church bells would chime then play Ave Maria. It was a nice touch.
The restaurant next door is pretty nice. Great seabass! They are very friendly and accommodating.
We never used the pool or spa.
I would stay again if I had to.
