Just returned from a week's holiday in Rome. We stayed at the Albani hotel. It is simply an excellent hotel. The staff were very polite and spoke good english. Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished with bright cheerful colours. Everything was tastefully selected and matched. Breakfast was very good although the selection was not huge and you get a fresh tablecloth every time!
Access to town was very easy with a bus stop nearby (50 metres). We used buses 86, 92 and 217 to go to Termini station. At the end of our stay we discovered bus 63 which takes you directly to the old town (Pantheon, fontana di Trevi etc) really handy. We recommend using a pass which enables you to use all buses, metro and overland trains within Rome very cheaply. For one day it is 4 euro and for 3 days it is 11 euro!! Dont bother with organised tours. Get a bus pass and a good map and ROme is at your feet. With the pass you can go even to the seaside, Ostia (which is beautiful) and more.
