My wife and I recently stayed at Hotel Albani for 2 nights as a result of joining relatives who were there with one of several Globus tours. We found the hotel to be clean and nicely appointed. The decor is 50's-60's retro style and while we liked it and thought it was fun, the bright colors and furnishings might not be to everyone's taste. The staff was helpful and of course spoke excellent English.

Our room was also clean, medium sized, and nicely appointed but in this retro style. We had a small balcony that overlooked a beautiful park so we kept the glass doors open whenever we were in the room. Definitely a nice feature. The morning of our departure we ate breakfast on the balcony while watching a beautiful sunrise.

An adequete breakfast was included and although the hotel is not close to major attractions in Rome, the front desk was prompt in providing directions or a taxi.

Earlier in the week we stayed in a Marriott on the Via Venito. That experience was much nicer but it was also twice to three times the cost of Albani.

While there are many hotels to choose from in Rome, we found Albani to be very nice and would stay there again.

  • Liked — Clean, modern look. Nice staff.
  • Disliked — Convenience to attractions in Rome

We stayed at Hotel Albani as our Globus Tour commenced from here, it was a three night stay. The rooms are fairly small and it does not take long to get sick of the bright awful colours that they have used throughout the rooms and the entire Hotel. The place is in desperate need of renovations, the only positive is the bar area which is lovely and clean. The buffet breakfast is fairly simple, not too much choice. It will take you about 15-20 mins by bus to the city centre, not walking distance, or 8-10EURO by taxi. Dont expect too much from Hotel Staff, especially Reception and if you are happy with Fairly Average, then you wont mind this place. I wouldnt stay here again!!

Overall a very clean hotel but getting a little worn around the edges and using bright colours to hide a 70's decor. Its miles from anything but the Borghese Gallery (a must see!), especially food although we managed to find a couple of restaurants (I'll review in restaurant section); a problem as they dont serve dinner except to tours. Count on a good 30-45 minute walk to central sights (I am a fit walker who normally runs 6kms a day). (A round walking trip from the Albani to the Colosseum, across to Trastevere and back by the river past the Vatican is about 18km by the pedometer)
Biggest disaster is the bus/cruise tour groups that the hotel is mainly for. No noise control as the big groups congregate in eachothers rooms, no space at breakfast, queuing at reception to do anything including picking up your key.
Big room but the smallest tv in the world (luckily not what i came to Rome for)
Not particularly friendly staff but put this down to the impersonal dealings on a constant basis with the tour groups

  • Liked — Cleanliness of the whole hotel, especially the rooms
  • Disliked — location, food, crowds of bus tours

My wife and i just came back from a ten day vacation in Italy, five days being in Rome. (it could be we were there a drop too long.) We had a flight and hotel package with the Albani hotel. It was a beautiful hotel! Nice lobby and bar. The reception was very helpful all through the trip. On the downside you have to pay for the internet and the location is definitely not central (although there are many buses that run right across the street from the hotel very often [1 euro one trip, 4euro one day, 16 euro 3 days]). The room was very spacious the food was very good (breakfast till 10:30!!) . About Rome; you should definitely get tours for vatican and collisium if you don't you can just buy tickets down the street [right by the arch of constantine] for the collisium by the forum entrance with no line at all (instead of one and a half hours). The forum is really cool also but for that you need a tour or else it's just a bunch of ruins. Night tours are generally the same route and if you can follow a map then you can really do it yourself. I would definitely stay there again in a trip back to Rome!!

Hotel Albani is a very good hotel, are room was huge with a very large balconey. The room was very clean and up to date. Nice flat screen TV at the foot of the bed! the bed was also very comfey. The staff was very helpfull in giving us directions and making us reservations at the colossium and borghesse museum. The only down side is it is a little far from the attractions (except the borghesse museum) but it is very close to the bus stop and trolly stop where you can easily get anywhere.
The breakfast they serve in the morning is also pretty good, they had eggs and bacon that didn't look that appitizing but everything is else is just fine.

All in all a good hotel, made us feel very comfertable.
