May 29, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

My friend and I booked this htl well in advance in order to attend the Fitness Festival in May after being in Rimini a few days earlier. When we arrived to Florence it so appeared that the festival had already been held a week earlier! We arrived May 19th and the reseption guy was extremelly helpful -he even telephoned friends to find out more information about the festival (dates, location etc)! I asked if we could stay just the first night and cancel the rest ( 4 nights), as we had arrived for nothing practically. Of course he couldn´t make up the decision so he gave us the assisting manager´s name who would be working the next morning (Govanni).

The next morning I told Govanni about our mistake in dates and he was extremelly helpful in making sure we could cancel our other nights free of charge. He and I called the hotel reservation company (hotels.com ...) to make sure that it was OK. Govanni promised us a cancellation free of charges, so did the reservation company! Then we went back to Rimini for the rest of our stay.
I have not received a refund yet ( been 1,5 weeks now) and shall e-mail the reservations company soon, if it does not show up.

I must say that the service I received from the reseptionist ( a very nice guy) and from Govanni was absoloutely PERFECT!! They both where genuin and really wanted to serve!

The hotel is located right next to the main railway station and the shopping area is very close by. Excellent location, clean hotel.

Thaks Delle Nazioni!

Regards, Sari from Finland

We stayed here for 6 nights, it was really great, spotlessly clean, and the best location. It is just down the street from the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon are an easy walk. There is a lot of little stores in the area to buy sandwiches and water. The breakfast in the hotel was really nice, everything you could want , eggs, bacon, cheese, ham, juice all sorts of great bread. I would stay there again.

This hotel has a fantastic location, as other reviews have described. My mum and I walked everywhere that we wanted to go. The Vatican was probably the furthest away but only took us around 30 minutes on foot. Additionally the advantages of exploring Rome by walking are plenty, there are so many hidden gems around every corner. There also seemed to be plenty of buses, and a metro nearby. The room itself was spacious, with a large bathroom with two sinks! We had a shower over a bath, which was very powerful. The room was very clean and had spare pillows, blankets etc. It was noisy with our window open - we were overlooking the restaurant, and the nearby main road - but when the window was shut it reduced the noise well. The staff were really friendly, and the breakfasts were typical continental style. We were really impressed with how quiet it was during breakfast, having had previous experience in a canteen style enviornment. I would stay there again happily.

We stayed here for three nights on a short visit to Rome. The hotel is amazingly convenient to most of the sights in both the ancient and medieval city. It is only thirty metres or so from the Trevi Fountain and within walking distance of pretty well everywhere but the Vatican City. The hotel is five floors in an evidently very old building which has been modernised without losing too much of its character. The quite large room and en suite bathroom were comfortable and clean. The room was at the rear of the hotel overlooking a courtyard. Rooms at the front of the hotel might be a little noisier until later in the evening due to the proximity of the Trevi fiountain. A disadvantage for someone from Northern climes was that the air conditioning was not working very effectively and we spent the first part of the night with windows thrown open, but by the end of the night were under blankets. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom did not have a bath but a large shower enclosure, which proved adequate for a short visit. Breakfast comprised a large and varied buffet, including scrambled and boiled eggs, and bacon, as well as a great variety of cold meats, cheeses, breads and fruit. More than enough to set you up for the day and included in the rate. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel for meals at other times of the day, but there are plenty of eating opportunities nearby, although care in choosing will help avoid poor value for money. The staff could have been a little more friendly but were efficient nonetheless. Rack rates were very high but using a booking web site gave us a considerably better deal than we would have got direct from the hotel.

Europe

Let me begin by saying I am an American living in Europe. I was surprised by all the negative comments on here. If you want a huge room with a spacious bathroom, large flat screen TV, and a massive breakfast buffet on a "Roman" holiday for this price then Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas is the place for you. If you want a decent EUROPEAN hotel room for a decent price, this is it.

The staff was helpful and courteous. The breakfast buffet was EXACTLY what I expected from a European hotel (scrambled or hard boiled eggs, bacon, cold cuts, cheese, bread, yogurt, cereal, juices, coffees). This was my 5th visit to Rome and, believe me, you can do much worse. The location (literally around the corner from Trevi Fountain and a 7 minute walk from the Spanish Steps) can't be beat. An added plus is the small grocery store across the way and the large grocery store across the main road (Tritone).

I wonder if those with all the negative comments have traveled much in Europe. I live in the nicest part of the largest city in my country in Europe, and my guest shower is the same size as the one at the Delle Nazioni. It's a tight squeeze but, hey, this is Europe.

The only thing I would say is that on many websites (but not on the hotel's official website) it says that internet is free, but it is not.
