Let me begin by saying I am an American living in Europe. I was surprised by all the negative comments on here. If you want a huge room with a spacious bathroom, large flat screen TV, and a massive breakfast buffet on a "Roman" holiday for this price then Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas is the place for you. If you want a decent EUROPEAN hotel room for a decent price, this is it.

The staff was helpful and courteous. The breakfast buffet was EXACTLY what I expected from a European hotel (scrambled or hard boiled eggs, bacon, cold cuts, cheese, bread, yogurt, cereal, juices, coffees). This was my 5th visit to Rome and, believe me, you can do much worse. The location (literally around the corner from Trevi Fountain and a 7 minute walk from the Spanish Steps) can't be beat. An added plus is the small grocery store across the way and the large grocery store across the main road (Tritone).

I wonder if those with all the negative comments have traveled much in Europe. I live in the nicest part of the largest city in my country in Europe, and my guest shower is the same size as the one at the Delle Nazioni. It's a tight squeeze but, hey, this is Europe.

The only thing I would say is that on many websites (but not on the hotel's official website) it says that internet is free, but it is not.

I had the misfortune of booking this hotel. It was awful and I truly doubt it s
a four-star hotel- three at best. My room had an electrical problem and I had no
electricity. The hotel's response to this was to send up an elderly porter who
would click the circuit breaker on and then five - ten minutes later the lights would go
out again. This went on from the time I checked in through the night. and next morning. Staff was not accomodating and told me there was nothing they could do until the following afternoon. I checked out the next morning after spending an night in a room
with no electricity. Secondly, the room was so small for a standard double.
There was only 2 feet bewteen the end of the bed and the wall. When you opened
the door, the bathroom was directly in front of you and it was extremely small.
Cleanliness was moderate. Comfort did not exist. I would not stay here if the
room was free. DON'T STAY HERE.

My wife and I stayed at Nazioni for five nights. There are so many hotels in Rome that making a decision on where to stay feels like a shot in the dark, particularly since Rome hotels range from expensive to coma-inducing sticker shock. We relied heavily on Tripadvisor and got what we expected. Nazioni is located next to Trevi Fountain, but it does not overlook the fountain or suffer from the Fountain's 24-hour mob scene. The hotel is very conveniently located as a central place to walk to any attraction in old Rome. We only used public transportation to get up to the Borghese Gallery and to the Vatican. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the nearest metro station. Our room was as expected - small, tight and functional. We asked for and received a room facing the courtyard that was relatively quiet. The hotel first offered to upgrade us to a suite on the roof, which is big and has spectacular views. Unfortunately, the room was not non-smoking so it reeked. We asked for a non-smoking room and ended up with what we paid for - a non-smoking small room facing the courtyard. The service staff made up our room daily. The sheets and bathroom were clean. The shower was particularly small - smaller than any other showers we've experienced in Europe. We spent very little time at our hotel in Rome since we were there to see the sights, so for sleeping, cleaning and breakfast purposes, this hotel works. The morning breakfast is plentiful and not bad. Nothing fancy and certainly not four star, but it has variety and fresh food that satisfied. The hotel is fairly large, so expect to see a lot of tourists around. Not recommended for anyone that expects their hotel to enhance a romantic getaway. There was always at least one person at the front desk and they all spoke English well and were helpful. Laundry here is very expensive - in fact, laundry everywhere in Rome is expensive, so your money is better spent on buying extra or new clothing. Although our room was non-smoking and indeed did not smell, the rest of the hotel had a strong smoke odor - not surprising since most of the tourists we encountered were European or Asian (few Americans). For the price, you could probably do better than Nazioni, but you could certainly do worse. We left with no major complaints and no lasting memories of Nazioni - pretty much what we expected and all we could ask for.

Stayed 3 nights at the Hotel delle Nazioni.
Pros
Room clean.
Quiet from the outside world.
Location ok, but in a real tourist area.
Decor of the room, pleasing.

Cons
Cleaners - loud
Aircon - very loud, and didn't seem to work.
Breakfast - limited for a 4 star hotel; actually felt a bit ill after every meal
TV - I appreciate you come to Rome not to watch the TV in your room ... but it was cold and wet and I was a solo traveller, so sometimes, being in your room to watch a bit of tellie not a bad option - only had about 5 very fuzzy italian stations ... no pay TV or DVD rental option. Kind of annoying actually. They could improve their entertainment system.
Shower cubicle - so small!!! I had to shower with the doors open and I'm a size 10!! so who knows how a man would fit.
Staff - A couple of nice staff members at front desk, but the older lady in the evening shift ... rude. Just really rude.

I would look elsewhere than stay here.

  • Liked — The room decor and it was clean
  • Disliked — Fuzzy TV channels with limited stations; Breakfast awful, Female reception lady ... rude ..

We just got back from our honeymoon and had a great time at the hotel. We stayed at this hotel for 8 days / 7 nights and our room was located on the 3rd floor. I would have given this a 5 but we had several issues.

Let me start off with the good news. The hotel is literally near the Trevi Fountain... about a 30 second walk. You cannot hear all the noise from the crowds which is great. This is pretty much walking distance from all the site seeing monuments except for The Vatican (which we took the Metro). The hotel was up to date and sort of trendy. The concierge, registration, and bellmen were very nice and helpful. The rooms were always clean and tidy. The A/C worked but we kept it off since it was cooler at nights and we always kept the drapes closed. We only used the free continental breakfast twice. The eggs and bacon reminded me of a Las Vegas hotel buffet. Don't know if you want to count that as good or bad.

Now for the bad news. We had 2 issues: the noise in the morning and our "mysterious" disappearing clothes.
In the morning around 9am, you can hear housekeeping moving the furniture around everyday like clock-work. It's the same noise you hear when you move a wooden chair across a wooden floor with the vibration. Well, that kept us up since we were still jet-lagged.
The second issue was on our 7th day there. We got back from shopping near the Spanish Steps and realized that ALL of our personal stuff on the desk has been rearranged. Not a big deal but after 6 days of not moving our personal items around, this day was different. My Timothy Ferris book was now on the nightstand table instead of the main desk (remember it hasn't moved in 6 days from the desk). Our dirty clothes were moved around (we had stacked them in piles) and my wife's shoes / slippers were rearranged... except for her Nike shoes (the ones that has 4 springs on the heel). We literally found them behind the drapes we never opened. Her Nike's were originally with all her shoes and slippers. That was not all... When we got back to LA on Wednesday, we wanted to separate the clothes for laundry and noticed that her Banana Republic skirt was missing. We always make it a habit to comb through the room when we leave any hotel room and we obviously combed through this room since we do live 6000+ miles away. We called the hotel (an international call, no 800#) at 12pm PST Thurs (which was 9pm Thurs in Rome) to let them know that we "left a skirt in our room" and they said to call back tomorrow morning. I called back at 11pm PST (which was 8am Friday) and the receptionist said he will find out with housekeeping and to call back in 30 minutes. My 3rd call back just told me that housekeeping found "nothing". This hotel is managed by ReMar Hotel and I tried to file a complaint but nothing was on their website except for the hotel's information. That won't do anything for us.

All in all, the hotel deserved a 5 for its location, 4 for their concierge, registration, and bellmen, and a 0 for their housekeeping. We're just glad that all of our valuables were put in our in-room safe and nothing else was taken. For being a 4 star hotel, I would have thought this kind of thing wouldn't happen.
