Just back from 3 nights at the Amalia which my daughter, with help from my wife, booked for my 70th birthday. What a wonderful experience. Must concur with the majority of people about the hotel. Large, comfortable room(405), marble floor, huge bed and spotlessly clean. Lovely bathroom apart from a very small shower cubicle. Different breakfast by usual British standards but it's different in Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany etc too........so, this is Italy! There was loads to eat and drink so no complaints at all. Staff, what we saw of them, were very pleasant and efficient; always someone at reception. Briefly saw room 401 as we passed when it was being serviced. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Tiny and overlooking courtyard. Restaurant next to hotel pretty good but best is left out of hotel then left at the deli, left at next block and over on the right; Isola della pizza (I think). Book on a Saturday night (or you'll have a long wait in the queue to get in) and you will be amazed at the atmosphere. Couldn't buy it! Photos of the rich and famous (Boccelli, Totti) clientele all over the walls. Food superb particularly the anti pasti, 11 separate dishes, yes 11! Not cheapest but definitely good. Briefly back to the hotel.
Can be a bit noisy in the small hours with the inevitable car horns and of course the recycling bins have to be emptied at about 3am! All in all, very satisfied.
