The only reason I stayed here is because I got a free night with my Marriott Rewards points and I'm thankful it was only 1 night. This location is awful. I guess if you're only in town to see the Vatican, then it is fine, but it's still a 10 minute shuttle bus ride there and it is not close to any of the major sites in Rome. The hotel was nice, but it's an American hotel. Everyone in it was American, so if you like that sort of thing this is for you. I, on the other hand, hated it and I'm glad we stayed our remaining 4 nights in Rome at Navona Garden Suites, located in the heart of old Rome just steps away from Piazza Navona. I stayed 4 nights in this hotel and had a fabulous time in this hotel. Food was fantastic, rooms are clean and comfortable, having a reasonable size. Though I Have found a few negative things about it:
1. there is no free internet, even in the lobby, it costs 35 cent/min (if remember exactly)
2. location of the hotel is quite far from the city. Found it very hard to get seats on the shuttle bus, as it runs hourly and have only 16 seats and there was always fights going on with people waiting for 30 mins and not being able to get on because of queue jumpers.
3. One thing I would also like to mention that I do care of the environment and it says in the bathroom that if you do not put your towels on the floor, they will not atke it away. Well, I never wanted them to take them into the wash, but it was still always been removed from the towel rack. :-(
4. Oooh, and make sure you do shut your windows for the night as it gets very loud outside from 5 or 6 am onwards!

The hotel is in the process of becoming a Marriott. The service and the restaurant food was very good. The view from our room was of the dome of St. Peters and was spectacular. The only bad thing about this hotel is its location out of town. The hotel has a free shuttle. However the shuttle takes you to a metro stop in an outlying area of Rome. It is not convienent to go back and forth to the hotel. We like to stay in a more central location. With all the Rome choices we would not stay here again because of the location.

This hotel is terrible. Starting with staff that don't have much local knowledge and are somewhat stand-offish and the rooms are no frill (which is fine) but smells old and funny... In our second day there, the hotel has no water and no power during middle of day. The staff were not trained to handle the situation at all. The hotel offers Internet at 22 euros a day or you can use te business center Internet at .50 euro per minute. The hotel is quite a bit away from central Rome though the hotel has a shuttle running hourly to the train station by Vatican city. I am a platinum elite member with Marriott and I have to say that I regret the decision of wasting my points with this terrible hotel. It's by far the worst Marriott I have ever stayed at.
