I have just returned from a stay in the Gallia Hotel and I dont have a bad word to say about it.

I found the staff to be helpful and very friendly, the location is perfect within walking distance to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and the Coliseum.And if you dont fancy the walk Termini station is five minutes away from where you can take the metro.

The room had all the facilities you could ask for from a city hotel. Good bathroom with shower and comfortable double beds, t.v, armchair,fridge. Room was slightly small but so are many hotel rooms that are loacted in major cities. Considering there was so much to see and do in Rome you only need the room to sleep.

Breakfast was good at the hotel with lots of choice. There was a small bar but I cant really comment on that because didnt use the bar on our stay.

I really dont understand how many comments are made about the staff they were always helpful and friendly. I believe if you are friendly people will be friendly back.

Im really pleased with every aspect of the hotel which made for an amazing break in Rome.

This hotel was $150 nightly, but any place in America it would rent for $50 nightly. Probably a nice hotel back in the twenties and thirties. Our door was broken, wouldn't lock properly, bathroom door wouldn't shut, noisy (very noisy) traffic outside, heat and aircond may have worked, but we couldn't tell really, smoking, smoking, smoking, smoking everywhere. The two positives: location next to the Maria Maggiore and the morning breakfast was adequate-to-good.

Stayed for Four days this July. Front desk very very unhelpfull, never experienced anything like it. a/c not working first two days, room safe not working, requested they change did so after 2 days, new one had no battery, asked but nothing done, they suggested 'we have a drawer in reception' sure...
no toilet paper in room!! until requested! wallpaper in room torn, light shades burnt. plus points breakfast ok, bed comfortable and clean. ok location. no chance four star, two star absolute max. City Great, some great food especially Osteria St. Ana on Via Della Penna, ask for mimo, and his recomedations!

Before I went to Rome on a family holiday, I had looked on this site and was slightly apprehensive. It turns out that I had absolutely no need to be!
The hotel was fantastic - the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times of day and night, the rooms were very large with plenty of space and nice bathrooms and breakfast was always fresh with lots to choose from.
It was warm in the hotel, but you could open the window whilst you were out and that cooled it down, but it was a blessing when it is freezing cold outside to go back to somewhere warm and cosy.
In regards to those who mentioned the noise, you can't really expect anything else when you have chosen to stay in a Central Rome hotel, but if you did as much walking as we did, you will be asleep before you notice it (which we didn't with the windows shut!)
Great location, Sante Maria is fabulous and only a short walk to the Colloseum, Trevi and St Peter's only cost 10 Euros in a Taxi!
Would definitely stay here again!
