Before I went to Rome on a family holiday, I had looked on this site and was slightly apprehensive. It turns out that I had absolutely no need to be!
The hotel was fantastic - the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times of day and night, the rooms were very large with plenty of space and nice bathrooms and breakfast was always fresh with lots to choose from.
It was warm in the hotel, but you could open the window whilst you were out and that cooled it down, but it was a blessing when it is freezing cold outside to go back to somewhere warm and cosy.
In regards to those who mentioned the noise, you can't really expect anything else when you have chosen to stay in a Central Rome hotel, but if you did as much walking as we did, you will be asleep before you notice it (which we didn't with the windows shut!)
Great location, Sante Maria is fabulous and only a short walk to the Colloseum, Trevi and St Peter's only cost 10 Euros in a Taxi!
Would definitely stay here again!

We only stayed 2 nights. The first room that we had booked, a family room, was baking hot and the aircon was exactly that, a con, totally ineffective. Sleeping was difficult enough but to wake at 3.00am with the bed crawling with bugs was totally unacceptable. The night porter managed to find us 2 alternative rooms and we had to drag the children out of bed and move with no help from staff. We expressed our displeasure the next morning and if I could have found an alternative hotel I would have done. We stayed one more night and certainly didn't expect to have to pay for the first room (210 by the way) but we were told that a discount of €25 would be all that was offered, on a room rate of €225 per night. Other than having a stand-up row with somebody in reception and the hotel debiting my card anyway we left as quickly as possible. Needless to say we won't be going back anytime soon. OR recommending that anybody else should stay there, remember room 210!

Good Points:-

Room was huge - far bigger than we expected for the money.
Room was clean, water was hot etc.
Breakfast was fine as were the waiting staff.
Nice to be near Santa Maria Maggiore and several bus stops.
Some good nearby restaurants

Bad Points:-

Front of house staff very unfriendly. Just tried to look cool in their shades.
Not really in walking distance of anywhere at least not in the heat of the summer.

The hotel is well situated, but the front of house staff could not give a damn about their guests. The air conditioning was not turned on centrally, but it could not have been used in the room (401) anyway as the unit was too noisy. The room was dirty, with layers of dust, torn wallpaper, even a previous client's socks in a drawer. I was not happy that despite the official taxi rate to the airport is 40 Euro they were trying to sell it at 45 Euros. 4 star? I don't think so!

Well what can I say,
I won a Trip to Rome and this was booked by the Event Mangers, I was promised a luxuary night in Rome at a 5 star hotel.
When we arrived it looks good from the outside, However looks are very diciving we were booked for a Twin room but given a double so I asked them to split the beds and was told they would try but could take a few hours? I have taken photos as they bathroom door could shut properly as the door frame was comming away from the wall, The bedside lamps were falling apart and all the electrical wires were on display, so didn't use them, which ment the room was very dark all through out the day, Holes in the walls and the paper peeling off, the shower and toilets were well just wrong, I have stayed in a cheeper Travel Inn and got more for my money ,
Good thing is location but thats it the city is full of graphiti and frankly would good back if i was paid. There is NO WAY this is a 5 Star it should be a 2 star if that. Breakfast don't touch it and the mini bar only soft drinks the bar in the evening shuts at 10.00pm.WILL NEVER GO BACK WHAT A LET DOWN
