We stayed in Rome for 5 nights. We wanted a hotel nearby the old center of Rome. We stayed in room 84 on the front side of the hotel on the fifth floor.

We had a spacious room with 4 beds, a big bathroom and a fantastic airco (>38 °C outside). We had a little terrace (for which it was too hot to use).

Breakfast was more than OK.
Service was very good.

Housekeeping was more than OK.

Roof terrace view is worth a million !!!

Some minor points :
On Saturday the hotel seemed completely full and the available staff (we called him "Antonio" :-)) could not manage the pressure. The other waitress (who was back on Sunday) could do it easely.
The same day housekeeping forgot to clean our room. Reception called someone to do it in the evening ... an Italian man came up with clean sheets and towels but did not know where to start (Italian men probably are not allowed to do something in the household :-)).
When I requested a Espresso in the evening they told me that the bar was not available in the summer season ... a pitty ... we could have enjoyed the coffee on the roof.

As you are not allowed to drive in the city during the day we parked our car in the ParkSi parking at the Villa Borghese. The last nigth we left it on the street ... Rome is a very safe city.

We've peeked in other rooms and they looked less spacious and had a terrible view. So if you stay ... ask for a room on the sixth floor or a room on the front side of the building on the fifth floor. The corner rooms (eg. 84) are the largest.

Our room and our stay are absolutely worth 3 or 4 stars.
The view from the roof terrace upgrades it to at least "****".

We reccommend this hotel !

Perfect location and nice building, but the rest of our experience did not earn the hotel 4-stars. The hotel is generally run down, the street is noisy. Breakfast was OK, but not adquate to justify 4 stars. Front desk service was not helpful, generally the reception neglected requests and complaints. Bed/matrass quality was clearly sub-standard and bathrooms very run down and not clean. Noise from the corridor.

We were totally surprised that this hotel had 4 stars, it should 2 stars, not more than 3.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights late March/beginning of April 2008. 2 mature couples from Denmark.
Great location in the very center of Rome.
Not a 4-star category - but average standard. The rooms are small. No space for a relaxing chair.
The breakfast buffet was very good with many different choices.
Helpful staff. The hotel arranged transfer from/to the airport - this worked absolutely fine. The roof terrace is beautiful.
We missed a hotel bar in the evenings - just for a goodnight drink. The lifts are very, very small (claustrophobic small) - so we walked the stairs up to the 5th floor every day. The cleanliness of the rooms is not the best.
We booked the rooms 3 months in advance - and one week before arrival the price of the rooms was reduced on the hotel website. We contacted the staff and asked for a reduced price like on the website, but this could not be accepted. We were told that we could cancel our booking - and then book again to the reduced price!!! - Not very service minded.
Overall - the posivite things of this hotel compensate for the negative things.

We have just returned from a five day stay in this dreadful hotel. We should have read the reviews on Trip Advisor before booking!
This is said to be a 4 star hotel - HOW? There is nowhere in the hotel to get a hot drink, no bar, a cold breakfast which is not particularly appertising, the lifts are so small they profess to take
3 or maybe 4 (different signs on each side of the lift!) At one point we took the lift to our third floor room (6 flights of stairs) and it got stuck with only two average size people in it. Luckily I managed to prize the door open as nobody answered the alarm bell and my wife was beginning to panic. The lifts were not used again after this incident on the second day. You had to pay for a safety deposit box per day - this is not what you expect for a four sstar hotel. How do they do their ratings?

To say it was noisy is understated. The room was at the back of the hotel (dull and dingy) and the a/c did not work and in order to get some air into the room we opened the window. Eventually we had to shut this as a road sweeper seemed to take forever cleaning a small car park at the rear of the hotel (with cars) at ridiculouse times of the night 2.00 a.m., 3.00 a.m. 4.00 a.m.

The only saving grace for this hotel is the ideal location. We walked to all the main attractions, colliseum, pantheon, trevi fountation and spanish steps but had to catch the bus to the vacitcan city as we were not sure of the route. Again, if it had not rained you could have walked although this would have taken about 20-30 minutes.

Don't let this put you off visiting Rome. A beautiful place and well worth a visit. It is expensive but then nowadays what isn't,
please think before you stay at this hotel. We did find another hotel just round the corner and which we will use when we return.
The Cosmopolitan Hotel which has a bar and restaurant attached so hot drinks and meals, we even managed to look at the rooms and WOW they were superb as you would expect for a 4 star hotel or even better.

Our final night in Rome was spent at this OLD hotel. We had been told this was a 4star hotel, with air conditioning! Ha! This was maybe a 3star with no a/c! When we arrived in our room, the window was open / shutters closed / allowing the 90+ heat to permeate the room. We quickly found the remote to turn on the a/c (ask at the desk if you don't have one!) and closed the window. It took several hours to cool the room to a bearable temperature.
Very noisy location -- heard the sirens of the ambulances all night long, and we had a rear room. Nice location for walking to the Rome historic sites, but very noisy.
The "king" room was actually two well-worn mattresses shoved together ..... my side sloped to the middle dramatically! There was a picture of the Blessed Mother above the bed ... not real romantic! The bathroom layout was so crazy -- the bidet and toilet were nearly atop one another, blocking access to the sink or shower. The shower floor filled with water quickly. I just happened to realize the water was around my ankles, quickly found the drain, and pulled the drain out so water could drain. Two other companions said the same thing happened in their shower -- beware!
Breakfast room was nice, but small. We found the same cheeses, breads, cereals, meats, fruit as in other hotels. The waitress was VERY friendly and attentive -- a plus.
The best part of this hotel was the rooftop view. We purchased a few bottles of wine and took them to the rooftop for our farewell party. A small group of travelers joined us as we watched the sun set on the city..... beautiful. This certainly canceled the negatives of the hotel..... I would return for the view, period.
A dining hint: Ask for directions to the Sicilian restaurant up the street, down the steps. Great food / friendly staff.
