What a pleasant and comfortable hotel to stay at.
The rooms are spacious as rooms in a big city go, everything needed for a comfortable stay you will find in the room and the staff are helpful and friendly. Their breakfasts are exceptionally good.
One can catch the bus across the road to Termini Railway station and the hotel is not too far from the Metro either.
This is indeed a hotel without unpleasant surprises and after our stay at Villa Germaine we realised how very important (and I cannot stress this enough) friendly staff and good service is.

Before my wife and I reserved this place we read some reviews online. They were mixed, but the one that I found the least true was the lack of things to do after hours or where to eat. You must remember this is an University part of town.

My wife spoke Italian but their English is good enough to understand. They told us to walk around the hotel and find a place to eat since there were several to choose from. We did just that. We found a great eatery down the road (to the right when you come out the door). We ate mussels, pizza and a bottle of wine for under 30 euros.

The subway is less than 6 minutes walking distance. The coliseum is two stops over. The hotel is greatly located because of its proximity to the subway. While on the subway, as long as you keep your passports hidden (under belt) and your camera handy, you WON'T get pick pocketed.

We got a ROMA card, they are also available in Madrid and Barcelona. You can get one at the tourism office next to the coliseum. It costs very little (30-40 euros) and you get in to many different attractions for free and it also serves as a free transit pass. One thing I remember is when we went to the coliseum it was so hot and the line was huge, but there was a special section for the pass holders and we didn't even have to line up, just show and go.

Give the hotel a call before you arrive and try to see if you can get a limo service. A driver will pick you up a the airport and drive you in style. The price was 45 euros and no hassle to drive. The airport is quite a distance so make sure you get it.

The room itself was great. We found the bathroom small but the AC was very cold since it was nearly 110F that day in Rome.

We stayed at the Best Western for 3 nights commencing the 24th September. The room and ensuite were very clean and cleaned everyday. we also had quite a large balcony which over looked the street below.
we strolled in and out to the city centre everyday which took about 15 minutes (straight road into Termini). There was a bus that stopped outside though if you weren't feeling energetic.
Theres a lot of small bars and takewaways around the hotel but very little if you want to go out for a meal. There is a very nice restaurant about 5 minutes from the hotel (out door and turn left).
Breakfast was good, cereals, pastries, eggs, sausages etc.,
My only complaint was that the rooms are very noisy. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back of the hotel because otherwise you will be awake all night

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with children aged 11 and 8. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful - happy to provide advice and directions in English. A short walk to the metro station with easy access to all of the tourist sites. Our room consisted of two queen size beds, a spacious entry area, large bathroom with bath, and a separate walk in wardrobe. Perfect for a small family. The breakfast buffet included ham, eggs, cereals, fruits, yoghurt, and pastries - an excellent selection with something for everyone. Overall it was a great hotel - highly suitable for families who want easy access to the sites but a quieter environment in the evening. As an added bonus the local pizzeria was excellent.

Booked two rooms. Main double room (307) with large balcony was great but for the ill fitting door which made it noisy, especially when the bins are emptied at midnight by three different trucks. The emergency vehicles were also a problem some times. Shower in this room is tiny and leaked water over the floor, the water presure in the sink was not good.

If these problems are resolved it would be an excellent hotel and value for money.

Other room booked had a bigger shower but no balcony and not as big room.

Near to the station and next road had lots of trams and buses

Breakfast is excellent, lots of choice and fresh.

Would stay again.

  • Liked — Room size and breakfast
  • Disliked — small shower and badly fitting balcony door
