I was a little concerned that our adventure to Rome,(Kim and I don't go on holiday, we have ADVENTURES). would get off to a bad start because our flight to Rome did not arrive until midnight and we thought the Hotel may let our room because we had not arrived. With this in mind i e-mailed the hotel and I was surprised to get a reply in english that everything was in order. A very good start.
We had to get a taxi from the Airport because the Leonardo Express had finished its service at that time of night. Warning!!!!! Our taxi only had two speeds, warp factor nine or Stop. Because the Hotel was only three blocks away from the Station I asked the driver just to take us to Termini, we could walk the rest of the way. I didn't trust him to take us to the hotel without ripping us off. If you are a ladies or alone I don,'t recommend this walk at night a (few undesirables about).
We arrived at the hotel to chained locked doors!!!! Thankfully the Duty Manager came to the door almost immediately was brilliantly efficient at checking us in. He even asked us if we would like A DRINK FROM THE BAR! The mans a genius. After 12 hours travelling it was exactly what we needed. He offered us a seat in the Garden which on that balmy September night and a long journey was a peaceful paradise.
And so to our room, Small? Yes. Comfortable? Yes. Clean? Absolutely spotless 10/10. Bathroom? absolutely spotless. Shower? a little bit snug, but, I am not the smallest of fellows but then I ain't the biggest either. The bed was the firmest I have ever come across, I don't mind that at all but extra pillows would be good. I'm sure if I had asked they would have been provided I just did not want to be any trouble.
I fully recommend this hotel to any body the cleanliness is exemplorary. The staff are brilliant, helpful and courteous. and the coutyard garden a joy especially with a cold beer and a good book.

I picked this hotel based on reviews from Trip Advisor and wasn't disappointed..The hotel was typically Italian with marble floors and wood panelling and was spotlessly clean.
It's location, close to Termini station, made travelling around Rome easy. I found the Metro the easiest and most cost effective way to travel, there are only 2 lines and they cross at the Termini and all the major attractions are close to the metro stations.
The breakfast was perfectly adequate and there was plenty of it so it was worth filling up in the morning given the extortionate prices of food and drink in the city.
The staff at the Astoria garden were exceptional, they all spoke good English and were extremely friendly. They really bent over backwards to make our stay in Rome something we wouldn't forget and were really knowledgeable on the best ways to get to places, bus times etc.
One of the reasons I picked the Astoria was because of the garden as I thought it would be nice to be able to sit and have a drink after pounding the streets of Rome all day, but my one criticism would be that I felt uncomfortable going out there. Although there were doors leading to it from the bar and from the breakfast area the doors were always kept shut and I was told to use the side entrance. Also one morning I tried to take my cup of tea from breakfast out there and was told I wasn't allowed!!!
Having said that I would definately stay there again.
My main tip to anyone visiting Rome for the first time would be...find out the price of a coffee before sitting down and ordering one in a cafe..the stories you hear about being charged ridiculous prices for drinks are true...the cheapest I paid for a coffee was 1euro in a cafe called 'WOK' in Termini station, the most I paid was 7euros (I didn't check the price first on that one!!!).

The location of this quaint hotel is excellent. It is located very near to Termini Station, on the "good side" in a neighborhood setting. The garden is beautiful. The room was great. The breakfast was good. There was some confusion, on our part, with the bill. When we asked questions, the manager became enraged. He ranted and raved about the economy and how hard it was to make a living. The more he talked the louder he screamed. He would not even permit us to ask our questions. It was very embarrassing---and amazing. On the other hand, the desk clerk, Lorenzo, was exceptional. He was kind and helpful. The manager needs to take some lessons from Lorenzo. Definitely stay at this hotel, just hope and pray that the manager has the day off when you are there!

This was my final stop in Rome before returning to Canada, and I think it was a great hotel location, close to the Termini (less than 10min walk with luggage in tow). From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile, a gentleman ready to take our bags up stairs and show us around the property. The check in was smooth and in English. A clean room, up-to-date bathroom, but the beds were hard and only one thin pillow to lay your head. Continental breakfast was average compared to brand-name hotels...I'd suggest tea over coffee, also the fruits were nice! Overall a great stay.

I stayed at this hotel 6 nights with my wife. The rooms are clean (no bugs !), the people are friendly and the price reasonnable. The only minor points are:
- the poor quality of the breakfast (no real coffee !)
-a free WIFI connection is not included in the price of the room
-the rooms are cleaned sometimes late in the day
