My husband and I went for a weekend in Rome. The hotel is very good placed close to Termini. However I think it would not ne hard to find a more comfortable hotel just as close to Termini as Astoria Garden hotel!! The hotel is very clean and fresh, I give them that. BUT the rooms are extremely small so is the bathrooms. Our weiv was out to a school covered in graffiti, very noisy. The beds must be made of bricks, they are horribly hard!!!!!!!!! The breakfast was HORRIBLE!! Croissants and bread that felt like they had been out for a week, teethbreakers. I am deffinately not a complainer, I am easy to please, but this was just too much!! Even at 7.00 on a Monday the bread was just as bad. I am sorry I would never go here again and i recommend you to look at a nearby hotel!!!!!! There are MANY around in the same neighbourhood!!

Management response from Ulrich Blaswich, Front Office Manager

Dear SWEDDEY,
Thank you for having written your opinion wich is always fimportand for us. We are deeply sorry for reading your comments about our Hotel. I would like to ask you why don't you tell us nothing during your stay? Maybe we could help you if you had told us your problems. Regarding the view of our rooms we have rooms with a garden view and rooms wich are facing the street. For shure the rooms facing the street have not a nice view as the garden rooms. To guarante a room facing the garden customers can book a room for this category directly on our web side. Customers can send us a special request as well and in case we have a garden view avaiable we do all our best to help our clients. Unfortunately all our standard rooms are facing the street and the superior rooms are facing the garden and some of them are in the garden.
Your complain for the brakfast I can not understand. Every morning we get fresh Cornetti and Bread and the buffet breakfast is well accepted as you can see from other customers who had left a note in Tripadvisor.

Yes, there are a lot of other Hotels in the neighbourhood but nobody of them have a nice garden as we do. I hope we can welcome you back in the future and I will give you and your husband a room facing the garden.

For any further requests don't hesitate to contact us and wishing you all the best from Rome

We choose this hotel due to it location being close to the main central station which was the drop off for the transfer from the airport. The walk to the hotel is approx 5 minutes. We were not disappointed - the hotel was as we expected . It is a small hotel located down a quite road with a few near by restaurants. The front desk was very helpful - the room was clean and functional if a little small. The bed was very firm and the bathroom was also well presented and had a good shower. You could hear noise (television) from the next room but after all the sight seeing and walking it didn't keep us awake. The hotel has a small tropical style garden which would be nice to use in warm weather. Breakfast was basic continental style - nothing special

If you're going to Rome and want a reasonably priced hotel within a short walk from Termini, the train station, you can't go wrong with Astoria Garden.
We stayed two nights in early May, 2009, and were very pleased. The staff is very friendly and helpful, particularly the delightful bellman who explained to us that the most important thing in life is amore (love). How right he is!
Our room was clean, the bathroom was newly redone, and the bed comfortable. We asked for a room facing the garden and it was very quiet. The breakfast was good with lots of selection, including a cappuccino machine for morning coffee. There was a little fresh fruit (pineapple), but it was gone early and only canned peaches and prunes remained. That was the only little glitch in an otherwise ideal stay.

Six of us, 3 couples stayed here in mid March and we all absolutely enjoyed our stay here. Check-in was very smooth and fast by the ever helpful receptionists. The rooms were as previous reviews have said are indeed on the small side but average really for Europe; they were spotlessly clean and were cleaned and towels etc. replienished each day we were there. Shower was excellent too. Breakfast, a buffet continental style of cheeses hams breads etc was more than adequate. the receptionists were really marvellous and were able to assist with any query we had including bus routes, restaurants etc. As a bonus there is a really pretty garden in the hotel with seating areas.
Locationwise this hotel is perfect being only 3 minutes walk from Rome's central station called Termini. There ar some great restaurants nearby and we spent a night or 2 in a pub nearby called The Yellow Bar which was lively and very reasonable by Rome standards.
Rome is a great city and is my second time there and hopefully i will be back again and would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Very central location, 5 min walk from Termini. Helpful staff willing to assist and rooms though small were very quiet which is very special in Rome.
