Just come back from a week in Rome. We organised as independent travellers via email and needed special help and advice for an elderly parent in a wheelchair. Whilst Rome is not wheelchair friendly and the Hotel Barberini does not specifically cater for wheelchairs the Hotel staff could not have done more. They organised cars to and from the airport and a wheelchair hire especially for us.
The rooms are of a very high standard and the overall service we found 100%. The Hotel does not have a restaurant......... but who needs it with so many on the doorstep. Good varied (hot and cold) breakfast available in the rooftop breakfast room with superb views of Rome. Hot is limited to scrambled egg, rather fatty bacon and hot-dog sausages.
Location is 3 mins walk from the Trevi Fountain and only 10 to 15 mins from most other attractions. St Peters is a 15 Euro cab ride.
Hotel is a little expensive but reflected in the overall quality. It is not a drinkers hotel as bar prices are prohibitive and we never saw anyone buying alcohol. Bar or room snacks during the day are limited and also expensive. Eat out.
Would we stay again? Definitely. By the time we left we were on first name terms with all the staff and felt like family.
