The hotel was chosen in the first instance for it's rating and location in the city, once done I turned to TripAdvisor to browse the reviews and was able to make a decision to book our room. The hotel,it's staff and the facilities fully deserve the positive reviews it receives.

We had a 4 day stay at the Barberini Hotel in late December. The hotel location was fabulous and the front desk could not have been more helpful with our many questions (and requests for directions). We arrived on an early morning flight to Rome and the hotel arranged for us to have use of a room (as our rooms were not ready) so that we could shower and freshen up before heading out for a day of sightseeing. That set the tone for the rest of our visit. Breakfast on the top floor with a view of Rome were wonderful, with cappuccinos and any other hot beverages made for us each morning.

Dear Customer,
thank you very much for your good review! At the time of your arrival early in the morning there was a room available, not the one held for you, that could be given to you for refreshing up after a long overseas flight, we are glad that it helped you. We look forward to welcoming you soon in the near future, now you know everything of Rome better than a Cicero!
Sincerely, Mauro - Front Office Manager

My husband and I chose this hotel on our first 10-day visit to Rome in April of 2011 after reading so many positive reviews. THEY WERE NOT WRONG! The location is wonderful...you are only a short walk from the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and several charming restaurants and pizzerias. In addition, the taxi stand and tour bus stops are just down the hill.

We wanted a smaller, boutique hotel and were delighted with our room; it was very clean, well-appointed, and the bathroom was quite large by European standards. Doors opened onto a small balcony and let in the crisp evening air. Breakfast on the roof was also a nice touch.

The front desk staff was polite and always helpful with directions or suggestions. We left the hotel for two nights to visit Positano and felt very safe leaving most of our clothing, a computer and lots of souvenirs behind in our room.

Review sites like this one are very helpful when choosing a hotel in another country. It would be unfair to let the opinions of those who may not understand hotel booking rules or the etiquette of international travel (without taking any personal responsibility) stand without speaking up about our contrasting excellent experience.

We are returning to Rome in 2014, bringing along another couple this time. We will gladly choose this hotel again!

Dear Customer,
thank you for your positive reviews, we really appreciate the way you feature our hotel. We respect the opinions of everybody, one can like our hotel or can not, anyways we try our best to inform our customer before confirmation by giving all info that may help them to choose the right and fit hotel also because we like to think that everyone might have the opportunity to enjoy our city even if not staying at Barberini's; during their stay we give our best attention because ...well, we are italian ! we are friendly and enjoy speaking native languages with folk from everywhere. It enrich us a lot ! Someone may not like us so reviews can be more or less negative but we as hotel have the opportunity to reply.
Dear customer thank you again and come back soon, we are glad to be part of your excellent experience !
Kind regards - Mauro Laconi Reservations Manager

I was staying at the hotel for work for a week and decided to stay for the weekend with my girlfriend. only real positives were the location, bang smack in the middle of the tourist sites, and the view from the roof top bar and restaurant. In summay 5 star prices but not 5 star quality. Regretted not moving to another hotel when my girlfriend arrived.

Dear Sir,
we are sorry to acknowledge that we were not able to fit your expectation.
Indeed our pricing is in line with the 4 stars hotels pricing in the area Barberini’s square, much lower than 5 stars hotels and services are related to it too. You have mentioned a restaurant, allow me to point out that there is no restaurant at our hotel, only breakfast hall at roof top floor where we serve full American buffet breakfast at. We really would appreciate if you could provide further details that can help us to understand what we have failed in and maybe we could do it better in the future.
I remain at your full disposal for any further details, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Kindest regards,
Mauro Laconi

I've been to ROMA many times and the city and its people there are rich with culture and grace. Unless, you choose to stay at Hotel barberini. If you encounter the Mr. Mauro Laconi ....BEWARE! He chooses only to understand English when he elects to. The hotel has no problem refusing your stay after the establishment has charged your credit card. If this had been my first stay in ROMA or Italy, it truly would have casted a dark shadow on the entire experience. This hotel is a perfect example why one SHOULD NEVER CHOOSE a hotel based on pictures alone. You could easily find yourself sleeping on the Spanish stairs for the evening. During my visit, the police were also called. I guess that's common practice if you dont speak Italian( for Laconi is quick to be a mediator in the mess he himself creates) People, throughout the city we patroned, assured us our encouter with Hotel Barberini and the hotel Nazi is NOT common practice in ROME. As a result of this catastrophe, I was honored to stay at a better accomodation and meet many other lovers of ROMA.

Well, here we are again...
Dear the two Ladies and the one Gentleman,
I want everybody reading all your reviews ("hotel barberini doesn't like black.." and "don't do it ") to know that you three persons are the ones who never stayed at hotel because of your misbehaviour since your first step. Staying at hotels doesn't mean that one is allowed to forget the universal rules of good manners and honesty. I was forced to call the Police and now, thanks to your 3° provoking, specious and discreting review, all the world get an idea of who we all are: you and us. I was forced to call the Police as as well as any other hotel management would.
We work here.
Kind Regards
In behalf of Hotel Management

My husband and I stayed at the Barberini Hotel for 5 nights after spending 2 weeks on a private yacht on the Amalfi Coast. It was September 2010. I have also stayed at the Barberini, a few years prior on a different visit to Rome, as well. I am writing this review after reading the negative review above, from the people, titled "Don't Do IT". I was very happy to read the response that the management posted! Typically someone misbehaves, and wants to blame it on the hotel! The Barberini hotel is a lovely hotel, and the management was very kind in giving directions to restaurants and anything else we asked. I love the true Italian feel of the hotel, and the breakfast room, and the view from the ledge there! I love the small lift, and the pretty little rooms. I love that it really feels like we are in Italy, and not in a standard hotel back in the United States. We had a window that opened out onto the street, and it was so fun to look out at night and people watch. I travel to other countries to experience the beauty, charm and history. I am a travel agent, and send many of my clients, including family members to the Barberini. I love this place, and will stay here again, when I return, once again, to Rome!! It is in such a great location, and we discovered the most wonderful little family owned restaurant, down one of the back streets. Thank you Barberini, for showing us a great time!

Room Tip: We loved our room, facing the street, window open out facing the museum.

Me and my partner stayed here for a five night romantic/touristy break. The staff was very helpful, welcoming and polite throughout the duration of our stay and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself has a beautiful classical Italian feel, it’s very beautiful. Upon arrival the staff explained everything we needed to know about our room, breakfast and the city tax and let us get settled immediately. Our room was on the first floor which unfortunately meant it was rather dark. You could open the shutters on the outside of the window but they kept shutting leaving the room in almost pitch black. It wasn't a massive issue though as we often kept them shut for privacy (our room was almost street level and next to the entrance) and the room had plenty other lighting sources; the rest of the room faultless. It was very clean throughout and we were provided with everything we need for our stay. Breakfast in the rooftop breakfast room was a beautiful start to each morning with plenty of selection. The location is fabulous only a few minutes’ walk from the Trevi fountain, pantheon and lots of restaurants and shops. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms are darker because the shutters won't stay open.

Dear Guest,

classic and romantic is one of our motto we usually use to future our hotel, to describe our hotel in its entire atmosphere. Classic because it is a 19th century building totally rennovated and restyiled. Romantic because...well, Roma IS romantic, isn't it ?
Thank you so much for your good review, we are glad you've enjoyed staying with us.
We look forward to the next stay!
Sincerely
