Great hotel on the square. Nice outdoor area in front with benches and chairs to watch the people go by in the square. Could not believe how close it was to Trevi and Pantheon. Excellent gelato around the back alley.
Came here suddenly with no reservation when we had to ditch a previous hotel that did not live up to it's reviews. The Nazionale clerk was VERY helpful, gave us the Rick Steves' discount, nice room with high ceilings, space, huge bathroom. Room was quiet. The window was obscured by scaffolding for current work, but it would have overlooked the alley. The room was bright with good air running. I think it was just the fan, but temp was comfortable.
Common spaces very nice, breakfast was good.
The clerks helped us with reservations for a tour to the Vatican, and were generally just great. Wish they had nametags so I could thank them all properly.
The in room internet was a real pain. It's on the tv, so you don't have a mouse, you use the tv remote to move the curser and it takes f o r e v e r. It's ok if you just have to check your email really quick I guess.
Yes, lots of armed guards around because the Parliment building is right there too.
I would stay here again.
