We experienced a number of problems with our room at Hotel Priscilla. The air conditioning in our room was not working at all for one day (it was in August and the daily temps were over 40 degrees celsius) and this was extremely uncomfortable as we have 2 children. The staff could not care less. They stated that the people in our room prior to us had not complained and that the hotel was fully booked and we would not be able to change rooms. In addition to this our refrigerator was not working properly. We had gone to the supermarket and picked up some groceries like yogurt and cheese for the kids and they were about to spoil. Again the response to our complaint was that it was working properly. In addition to this there was no volume on the television for some channels. Our children were trying to watch cartoons and there was no volume on the channels that they wanted to watch. Again the staff insisted that everything was working fine. Please keep in mind that while were trying to resolve all of these issues we had wasted one day of our valuable vacation time. We were only in Rome for 3 nights and an entire day was wasted trying to have these problems resolved. On the final day we asked that we be allowed a late check out of an hour or two, however this request was refused. The staff could not care less as to how displeased we were and did nothing to try to rectify the situation. When we asked to speak with the owner or director of the hotel we were told they could not be contacted but that the director would arrive at the hotel between 1 and 2 p.m. on that day. We checked out of our room on time and left our luggage in your lobby which we trusted would be in safekeeping. We returned at around 2 p.m. only to be advised that the director was not coming in that afternoon and that she was never expected to come in that afternoon. Obviously we were told a lie just so that the employee of that morning could get us out of his hair. In addition to all of the above referenced problems we came to realize that some of our jackets which were in the outside pockets of our luggage were stolen during that time that they were in the lobby and under the so-called supervision of the employees. We e-mailed the owner about our complaints to which his reply was there were no problems with our room. We paid for an air conditioned room, with a working fridge and working television. We did not receive a room with air conditioning, working fridge or working television. We obviously did not get what we had paid for. The owner's response to our complaint was that he was sorry we didn't like the service.

We will definitely not be staying at this hotel again and the only recommendation that we will give about this hotel is that we recommend no one stay there.

Rooms were clean and I thought beds were comfortable, although my partner did not. Hot water not particularly powerful and bathroom small with a few hairs in the shower.

True, the TV was small, the breakfast not great (although the lady serving it was brilliant) but the room was cool and not bothered by noise.

The staff were v helpful, and Eduardo needs a special mention as he really is a great asset to the hotel. Very knowlegable. Cute too.

Hotels in Rome are expensive so you pay for what you get and as we only paid 85 euros a night in June, thats exactly what we got.

WiFi connection is really poor and my friends did not like the hotel at all.

The triple room is good though.

We stayed at The Priscilla the last week of April 09. It's not a luxury hotel but is great for a vacation. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The location is great we walked everywhere from the hotel.
Breakfast was great, ( I actually miss the cornetti very much since I can't find them here in the states). The lady in charge of the breakfast also makes capuccinni, expressi, and hot chocolate if you ask.
Also they do have a full bar in the evenings, and food on certain nights
The staff was fantastic !!
Can't wait to go back to Roma, and certainly will stay at The Priscilla again.

After reading some of the negative reviews on this site, I was a little apprehensive - but I was pleasantly surprised.

Service - The front desk guys were friendly and did the job and hotel cleaning staff always had a "buon giorno" for us. We asked for a taxi to the airport but were told they had a private driver who did that - for 50 euros (it was a Sunday). If you're not prepared to pay that, I suggest booking either a normal taxi outside of the Hotel or travelling via public transport.

Cleanliness - I'd read reports of dirty rooms, hairs in bathrooms, etc, but our room was clean. The towels were changed daily and the bathroom was kept clean.

Room - The room was ok, nothing broken or falling apart as reported, and the decor was clean and tidy. Only gripe were the beds, which for me were ok, but for my partner not so (he said they were uneven and uncomfortable). I guess it depends on how sensitive a sleeper you are. Which takes me to the noise issue - It *was* noisy outside and even with the windows shut, you had a feeling they hadn't closed properly. I slept with earplugs - but hey, I am in a busy capital city in a good location, so I can accept that there are going to be other people around :)

Breakfast - This was also mentioned as a negative point, but as most people familiar with Italy will know, Italians do not do breakfast, but prefer to drink a cappucino and eat something sweet "on the go" . However saying that, the breakfast in Priscilla is truly shockingly bad (awful coffee, pre-packed "rusks" and dry old white bread). If you don't want to go far, there is a cafe next door who sell delicious espressos and pastries!

Television - OK, I have to make a comment about this - I read complaints that the TV is only Italian and the only English channel is CNN. I don't understand this complaint - if you're in Italy, then expect Italian TV. If the TV is bad, then explore Rome instead of watching it :)

I would recommend Hotel Priscilla - it's nothing special, but it's not a dump and it's clean and does the job. Just avoid the breakfast and do as the Romans do :)
