The entrance is pretty dated with grimey couches that have seen better days and a gift shop that looks like it has been closed for 25 years but rooms and bathrooms were clean. Room windows were a bit gross with black mold on them but other than that, no issues ( clean towels, friendly staff etc). The restaurant downstairs is good, they have great pasta but not much else. Morning breakfast buffett is simple but everything is fresh and tasty. The biggest drawback is the location. My friend and I had never been to rome and had to take a taxi back, it cost us 25 Euros, and about 20-25 min. Needless to say the driver probably took advantage of us but it is still a bit far away from the heart of Rome. If you get a cheap rate from a room I would do it!

I stayed at this hotel with my friends as part of a tour we took, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The room itself was a little small, but I slept so well there and it was clean. It wasn't too close to downtown, but it was close to a metro stop, so it was very easy to get there. The staff was pretty nice. The elevators there were HUGE compared to any other elevator I'd been in Europe, so that's great for anyone with disabilities. The restaurants nearby were really good, and we got to know the staff there in no time since we frequented it for desserts, dinner, and wine. I would definitely recommend Hotel Princess.

Was travelling around Europe last christmas and had problems securing my accommodation in Rome - new year's eve to new year day itself. Hence, had gone ahead to book a room at Princess Hotel last minute.

Arrived at Campino Airport late at night and had taken a cab to the hotel. The cab ride cost about EUR55 - the driver claimed that the hotel is located outside the area where cab fares are capped at EUR30-40.

Anyways, we arrived at our room, which was pretty average. Would have to say that the bathroom was well maintained and clean. The EUR125 per night price we paid for was strictly accommodation only - no airport transfers, no breakfast.

Was most disappointed with the location of this hotel. It was a long long long walk to the nearest metro station! I recall having to walk the long long stretch 4 times a day - unbearable. Especially, if you have alot to carry with you, the walk takes forever.

Checked out after 2 nights to move to somewhere closer to central Rome. Had left my mobile at the hotel and made the long way back to collect it. To our horror, on our way back, just 500m away from the hotel, we were stopped by a car, with some self-proclaimed police officers (they look like Morrocans), who asked if we were Koreans and requested to check our passport. We ran for our lives, back to the hotel to inform thhe receptionist, who seem non chalant.

All in all, not so pleasant experience - not entirely attributable to the hotel but still, will not stay at Princess again. Should have read the reviews here before proceeding wiith my booking.

I booked the hotel on-line and decided to go with a hotel that was further afield so that we could enjoy the pool in the July heat after a day of site seeing. I was a bit aprehensive after reading the reviews here, but went ahead and booked anyway. The hotel is a good 15-20 minute walk from the metro (which closes at 10pm). Buses run to the metro stop about every half hour, but you still have to walk about 10 minutes uphill to get to the bus stop. Once you get to the metro, nobody has ever heard of the street on which the hotel is located nor have they heard of the hotel! So good luck finding it if you haven't brought along a special non-tourist map (tourist maps in the guidebooks don't go out any further than the vatican)!!
The hotel is a 1970's warehouse looking building with windows (as are the neighboring buildings). The pool was out of order and had not been functioning at all in 2008. The "double bed" was actually 2 single beds pushed together. The fridge didn't work. The air conditioning had two settings: ON full blast or off. Rooms are not soundproof and several nights we heard our neighbors on all sides talking and their TVs blaring. The restaurant closes at 10 or so, and after that, when you order food, it is microwaved frozen food.
On the positive side, the hotel was clean, the staff friendly and willing to help us find our way around, to the metro, to the beach etc. There were also plenty of bathroom amenities, which is probably where they got their 4 stars, I would have given the hotel 2 stars.

  • Liked — friendly service, bathroom amenities
  • Disliked — LOCATION, pool closed, food was terrible and hours limited

I had heard some bad reviews after booking the hotel and so was quite apprehensive but I have to say, the hotel is nice. Okay, so it's not right in the centre of Rome but looking at some of the properties situated there, that was a god-send! The staff were friendly, bi-lingual (speaking up to four different languages) and very helpful.
There were tours bookable from the reception whereby you were picked up from the hotel and transported to the coach company who did the tours. There were some very reasonable prices - the one me and my sister did was 35 euros each and it took you around ancient rome - the roman forums, the colleseum, etc etc. Definitely worth while, especially as you get transported back to your hotel at the end of it and would be cheaper than getting taxis around the different places and getting your souvenirs.
The only downfall I have to say with the hotel was the lack of privacy due to the thin walls. I could hear people taking showers next door and often you could hear people mumbling when talking and laughing also. Its ok if you want your hotel to be a base for sleeping and eating (they have a nice restaurant - fairly priced italian cuisine) but I wouldn't recommend to those of you who want to be central or who don't like any noise or disturbance.

  • Liked — The staff and the lounge was big with spacious and comfortable sofas.
  • Disliked — The distance from the centre/main attractions.
