I chose this hotel after reading all the glowing reviews. Maybe I was expecting too much, but my husband & I were somewhat disappointed. Our deluxe room was attractive - although the mattress & the pillows were hard as rocks. Breakfast was good - but very pricey at 30 euros.
I asked the concierge to book our appointment time at the Villa Borghese and listened as he picked up the phone & booked it. When we showed up at our appointed time, they had no record of our name or our confirmation number. In fact, we were told that the confirmation number was from May, 2009 (we were there in June). They took pity on us & let us in but obviously something strange had happened!
We'll stay somewhere else on our next trip.

I arrived earlier than anticipated and check in was not until 14:00. The front desk were extremely welcoming and pleasant and checked to see if my room was ready (it was 10:00). They told me my room would be ready in one hour. However as I had some free time I decided to do some sight seeing and left my luggage. The Spanish steps and the popular upmarket shopping area of Via Veneto are just a very short walk away. I explored down as far the Vittorio Emanuelle monument where I then got on one of those hop on hop off sightseeing buses. I returned to hotel later that evening (the sightseeing bus actually stopped about 100 metres from the hotel (Villa Burghese). Again I was warmly welcomed with a smile and the check in procedure was dealt with very efficiently. The bell boy (Gianluca) then brought me to my room and showed me around. The room was lovely. Unfortunately they gave me a room on the first floor with no view at all but because I was only here for a job interview the next day this did not bother me. I did get the impression that if I wanted they would have provided me with another room. Quick point here the "superior room" is only a standard room, suggest the deluxe as this inlcudes a small terrace. The room is lovely though. Marble bathroom with double sinks. bidet etc. My only complaint about the bathroom is that it is a little small but still very nice. Excellent choice of on demand entertainment etc. Restaurant is quite expensive but has been awarded a michelin star so definitely worth going for a meal there. The restaurant has spectacular views of the Rome skyline particularly the Vatican & St Peters. Dont touch the minibar as you will very easily rack up the charges! I would definitely stay here again but would choose the deluxe room next time. *****

The hotel is located just off the very trendy Via Veneto and about 5/10 minutes walk in the other direction from the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. There was no noticeable noise up in our street facing first floor bedroom. It was also close to the Villa Borghese park.

Our room was enormous, with cupboards in the lobby linking the bedroom to the spacious bathroom with separate bath and shower. There wasn't a great range of TV channels but then Rome is not a city that makes you want to stay in your hotel room watching TV so it didn't matter much!

There were only a couple of mildly annoying things about the room. First, the location of the protruding door stops! There was one behind the main door which was close to the suitcase stand and on which I stubbed my toe a couple of times. (Funnier when it happens to someone else!) The other was in the bathroom right by the toilet which caught out my partner. There also didn't appear to be a master switch for turning on / off the lights, so it required a trip around the room visiting the various fittings in turn. Maybe it was just me but at the very least it wasn't obvious.

We didn't eat in the swanky Mirabelle restaurant but breakfast was fine and we would definitely come back to the same hotel.

Top tip - hang onto your bottle of water when you are finished with it because there are water fountains all over Rome which enable you to top up and keep cool and hydrated.

A lovely luxury hotel in a great location. Our stay was wonderful - staff very helpful, everything clean and all in all a perfect long weekend. Although pricey, would definitely reccomend a meal in the restaurant - a table outside on the terrace overlooking the city was lovely. A great hotel.

Having just returned from a fantastic trip to Rome I felt that I should write a review on this hotel in the hope that it may help future travellers. The hotel itself was lovely, the breakfast was great and was served in beautiful surroundings but we felt a little disappointed with the room which we were allocated. I had booked a superior double, which is actually just a standard room. Whilst the room itself was very clean, tidy and nicely appointed the bathroom was a little 'tired looking'.

Also felt that 25 euros extra for t.v. was insulting given the price of the room in the first place. Mini bar prices were very steep as were the prices in the hotel bar.

Also a little disappointed that the hotel didn't even give us a complimentary bottle of wine or something similar, given that it was my husband's 50th birthday and our 10th wedding anninversary (a fact that they were aware of).

All in all a good hotel but not quite as good as I had expected. The little restaurant immediately next to the hotel (come out of doors and turn right) was excellent. Food very acceptable, service with a smile and complimentary drinks at a reasonable price (by Rome standards).
