My husband and I couldn't have been happier. The hotel was lovely, the staff was friendly, attentive and always available when we wanted candid advice/suggestions. I did take a previous poster's advice and asked for a nice view of the gardens, which also provided a view of Vatican City (stunning)!

After having stayed in Sofitels in London and New York, the brand has become my favourite in the $300-$500/night range. The location of the Sofitel Roma is quite good - about a 5-10 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, but still in a quiet immediate vicinity. Like all Sofitels, the bed is like sleeping on a cloud. Only complaints - the rooms aren't quite as soundproof as advertised (street noise, especially in the mornings, isn't ideal); there's a lot of wood panelling in the bathroom, which has become warped/mouldy from water; and I agree with previous commenters that the prices for hotel food/drinks/internet, while not entirely out of range for hotels, are a little insane (tip: Thursday evening is happy hour at the rooftop bar - 2 cocktails plus snacks for 15 euros). Otherwise, I was quite pleased with the hotel.

The location can not be beaten. Central to everything for the walking crowd. The staff is very friendly and speak English well. Very willing to give directions, suggestions for any questions that you may have. The room was well appointed and rather smallish but adequate. They pack it with everything you could need or possibly fit in the room! Service is good and I would return. What is lacking for lobby splendor is made up with comfortable rooms and friendliness.

We stayed at the Sofitel Roma for three days in May 2009 as the starting leg of our honeymoon. The staff was very friendly to greet us and was great at helping us with directions and recomendations. The room was decorated nicely and was unique as it was at the end of the building with windows on three sides.
There is a beautiful roof top deck at the hotel with a bar / restaurant. The views are great and it is lovely at night. However.....the cost of the food and drink was crazy expensive. We ordered two ice tea's (non alcoholic) and received two small glasses of watered down iced tea. We were shocked when we got the bill and the ice tea was 10 euro each!!! We paid almost $25 for two glasses of iced tea. We had the bill doubled checked and were told that was infact the price. We had a similar issue with a 15 euro gelato. Be sure to check the prices before you order. The view is nice, but not worth it at that price.
