This 5 Star rated Hotel was all you could hope for. Great Location, Beautiful Interior, Outstanding Staff, and Comfortable, nicely equipped rooms. We upgraded our room to a Superior Queen Deluxe non-smoking and we not disappointed with the room in any way. It was clean and spacious with a view over the Borghese Gardens. We arrived early driving up from Sorrento, and our room wasn't quite ready. We opted to drop off our luggage, return our rental car (we wouldn't need it in Rome), and walk back to the hotel. Upon our arrival, a room on the 5th floor (506) was available and we were not disappointed. The entire staff was friendly and gracious. The Porter brought our bags to the room, placed them as requested, and showed us some of the amenities. We had plenty of Closet and drawer space to store our belongings, including those that needed to be secured in the digital (individually set) room safe. Afterwards we set out for our first sightseeing walk to Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps), it was only about 15 minutes walk from the Hotel. Our Stay included a "Contenintal Breakfast" which we asked for on the second morning of our stay, the "Le 49" Restaurant Staff apparently mis-understood, offered us the "Buffet", we repeated our "Continental" breakfast request, and she repeated "Buffet" so we assumed it was the same. She asked if we wanted any eggs, or meat, and we declined. The spread was nice with a good assortment of breads, cereals, fruit, juice and coffee or tea. We had a small breakfast and was presented with a bill for 25 euro each - I wasn't prepared for that, but had read in the room guide that would be the charge for a full breakfast - If we violated the "Continental" boundary I wasn't made aware, but paid the charge, and didn't eat in the "Le 49" again during our stay. There are many Bars and Tea rooms within short distance from the hotel that have a continental breakfast for about 12 euro total for two. I think that was my only surprise with the Sofitel. As we came and wen't on various tours the staff greeted us and wished us a good day. The night maid was gracious in turning down our beds and leaving almond cookies on the nightstand. Nice touch. The Day maids did a superb job keeping the place up during our four night stay. We appreciated not hearing any noise from our room to any surrounding and only barely hearing any street noise (even though a street was outside our window five stories below). If I missed saying anything good - I meant to. I'd definately stay here again! The location is perfect, (a little far from the Vatican City and Colosseum - but not terribly so - we walked to both).
