We had booked this hotel before we read the reviews and if we hadn't, probably would have thought twice. However, we are so glad we stayed at the hotel; it was a lovely, olde world type of hotel with everything we wanted. When we arrived for a 4 night stay the receptionist said that we had been upgraded to a suite ( at no extra cost) .We were given a lovely large room, with wood block floors, a huge chandelier, and with the biggest bed I had ever seen! The bathroom was marble, chrome and gold - absolutely lovely - and everything spotless. Even the loo rolls smelled of rose petals!

The staff were extremely helpful and kind and I would recommend the hotel to anyone without hesitation.

when we arrived at our Hotel, we were not greeted with even a hello or a smile, I had to approach the front desk, (bearing in mind that this is a “4 Star” Hotel), to announce our arrival and booking reference, not a great start! After booking in with the extremely unhelpful girl on the desk, we asked where the spa was, as this was the reason for choosing this particular hotel from my wife’s birthday present.

We were told that the spa was shut and had been for 2 months, this is absolutely appalling and very upsetting for my wife especially. This information has not been forwarded to us and your website still advertises the facility.

We then went to our room, which was a very poor standard and not as described in your information, in fact far from it! The room was extremely stuffy and hot, we opened the window only to be met with a noise like a race track and an excessive noise of car horns being sounded. We immediately shut the window and turned to the air conditioning which was also advertised in your info, (see enclosed). We went out for the evening to return to a room that was more like an oven, I felt the air conditioning louvers and to my surprise, were pumping out hot air despite selecting the snow symbol. We shut down the air conditioning and phoned reception, only to be told that there is no air conditioning as it is “winter time” despite the outside air temperature being 18 degrees!

We opened the windows again, only to be met with traffic noise like I have never heard at that time of night, with the constant tooting of hooters, overreving of engines and if that wasn’t enough, mosquitoes!

Needless to say that we could not sleep a wink.

The following morning we went to receptions to complain only to be told that there was nothing they could do as the a/c was all turned off!

With the weather cooling the following day we thought that we could at least cool the room down while we went to dinner by leaving the windows open! However, we returned to the room and it was just as hot as it had been, we suffered another horrendous and sleepless night. The next morning we insisted that something be done, the girl on the desk, with no apology, said she would send maintenance, we arrived back to our room that evening to find it hotter than ever, I found that they had just turned the heating on again!!! An absolute nightmare, my wife was in tears and we and were both absolutely shattered and I had been bitten half a dozen times by the mosquitoes!!

This is all bad enough, taking that we were expecting a beautiful spa hotel and beautifully appointed rooms with marble tops (see hotel details), none of which existed, needless to say, nor did the bath robes or slippers they boast of, but more upsettingly there was no bar or restaurant, despite the hotels photos and descriptions’, It was a desolate conference room at best! Unsurprisingly, there was no information that this didn’t exist nor did the hotel announce the fact that all these facilities were not on offer despite Expedia’s and their website claims.

I suggest that you update your website with immediate effect and send an inspector to assess your description against the reality of the situation.

i've just been there. great location and good room (but without internet connection...).

but the experience wasn't very good.
just arrived, the light did not turn on in the room (the solution was to insert a folded business card into an electronic device).
then i attended a book presentation in a room (floor -2) where air conditioning wasn't working. very unconfortable experience.
moreover, three people tried - succesfully, in the end - to activate internet connection for one of the speakers. it took about 45 minutes.
then, when i went to the room back to sleep, i realized that air conditioning wasn't working there as well...
so, not worthy of its price.

My friend and I booked a deluxe room for a 3 night stay at the Boscolo Palace in September 2008. When we arrived we were given a room on the first floor which was facing onto the busy street. To say we were disappointed with the room is an understatement; this was not what we expected when we paid over £300 per night. We asked the receptionist what type of room we were in and she said it was a standard room and said that they had no deluxe rooms left and that we would be moved the next day. In addition, she said that we would be refunded the difference for the cost of the room for this night. If you are going to book this hotel ensure you have a room which is not on one of the lower floors facing the street on the front - it was so noisy. The next day we went to speak to the reception staff again who said that the receptionist from the night before was incorrect/lying and that we were in a deluxe room which we didn't believe for a second - it was really worst 4* room I have ever stayed in. Eventually the receptionist said that we could move to another room which was much nicer - still not 4* deluxe and the smell of smoke was really bad. At this point we had to sign an agreement to say that we were happy with the room and that we would not be asking for any compensation for the first night.

The location of the hotel is superb about 10 mins from the Spanish steps. Rome is really a wonderful city, very expensive but wonderful and would definitely return but would never stay in this hotel again.

Stayed at the Boscolo Palace in Rome last week on a family vacation. Checked in for two nights and left after one because the rooms were tired, musty, not very clean and the bathrooms were very grotty. The hotel looks truly 5 star on their website and this is completely misleading. We stayed at the Westin Excelsior the second night, more expensive but a much much better experience. I would not recommend the Boscolo Palace to anyone.
