We chose The Duke hoping that it would match the photos on its website. It did! Elegant, peaceful and luxurious it was well worth the short journey from the city centre. There are a few local shops, very little traffic and the neighbourhood is generally up-market. Maybe our decision to arrive from Fiumicino by public transport was crazy on a rainy night - the "200" metres from Euclide rail station is rather longer, uphill. (Incidentally travel on the short rail trip Flaminio to Euclide involves many stairs and steep steps into the rail cars.)
Our welcome at The Duke was warm, the superior room very spacious, beds rather firm with wonderful linen. Breakfast was excellent, dinner likewise though quite expensive. The lounge is spacious and beautiful. We didn't take our laptop and there seemed to be no desktop PC for guests to use, which was a pity. The free shuttle is good, although
one evening it left us waiting/wondering at the Rome pick-up point until we telephoned the hotel.
We suggest take the Leonardo Express from airport to Rome Termini. A regular white taxi from there to The Duke costs about 15 euros. Avoid taxi touts who will offer you a bargain fare of 50 euros!! Eat a big breakfast, take a free apple from reception, buy a travel pass, be prepared for plenty of hilly walking and eat dinner in the hotel at least once.
Our stay was really good, we would go back again.
