We stayed here for 10 days while on our honeymoon. The staff was very friendly and helpful even before we arrived. The hotel was very clean and nice. Room was a good size, we were going to be out mostly anyway. The only complaint I had was that the bed was firmer than I'm used to, but after a night or two I got used to it. There was a complimentary breakfast each morning that was good, had the basics. The location I tought was great. Only 2 blocks from the metro, a 10 minute walk to the Vatician, Olympic Statium about 20 min walk, Spanish Steps about 20 minutes and the Trevi Fountian isn't far from the Spanish Steps. We enjoyed being about to walk to most of the popular monuments, but if we were tired the metro wasn't far. I never felt unsafe walking around at anytime of the night either.

Just returned from a week in Rome and had wonderful accommodations at the Hotel Giulio Cesare. The rooms were fairly spacious with large closets. Our bathroom was a bit small with just a shower, but other rooms had tub/shower combos. The towels were large and fluffy{with towel warmers} and the toiletries were fine and plentiful. Rooms were serviced in a timely fashion every day. The staff was very cordial. There was a lovely buffet breakfast every morning with eggs and other hot dishes, as well as cereal and delicious baked goods. There were a couple rooms off the lobby to chat and relax. The location of the hotel was excellent. It was a couple short blocks from a metro stop. It was within walking distance of nice local shops and restaurants and you could also walk across one of the bridges on the Tiber and be at the Piazza del Poppolo in 10 minutes. We walked to the Pantheon and the Vatican easily. There was a small bar at the hotel, but a little cafe would have been nice for an afternoon tea or coffee. It was definitely off-season, so perhaps they have more restaurant services in the prime tourist season. I would definitely stay there again--very comfortable.

The hotel was average, the size of the double bedroom we stayed in was fit for hobbits so if you intend to stay here my advice is book a twin room- two people can stand in these rooms as the same time!
Reception staff were average. We stayed in October and for us it was very warm in our broom cupboard (bedroom) but the Hotel switch off the a/c in the winter so it was exceedingly uncomfortably hot during the night and they were unable to offer an alternative like elctric fans.
The breakfast was excellent and the waiting staff were extremely helpful.
Bar was very expensive G & T £8.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on the last part of our honeymoon. We arrived and were not well greeted. When we got to our room it was discovered that it was not cleaned yet and it was about 3pm. We went down in the garden bar for an hour and had drinks and waited. After an hour, we went back up to the room, and found it was still not cleaned. We waited another half hour for the room to be ready.

We stayed in a standard room which i would not recommend getting. It was very very tiny with no view at all except trash down below. We were told it could not be switched. After staying in two great hotel rooms previously on our honeymoon we were a little let down.

The hotel garden bar is very nice, but very expensive. We stayed in Capri and Sorrento previously and the drinks at their hotels were much cheaper. I paid 5 euros for a tiny glass of Coke that wouldnt even amount to a can of soda. It was 7 euros for a tiny glass of limonchello. 15 euros for brunch.

The hotel staff was not as friendly as they were in the previous hotel rooms we stayed in. One night we tried to get a wine bottle opened for us at night so we could have a drink in our room, and we're told that they could not open it for us because their bar was closed, and it was not even 11 at night.

We had lunch one day there and it literally took 45 minutes for the waiter to finally bring us a menu after asking several times. It took another half hour to get our food. There is a difference between laid back, and just plain bad service.

Besides the hotel we loved Rome, we just would not come back to this hotel again! It was out of the way from all the main sites, and the metro closes at 11:30 so you would have to walk all the way back or take a cab. We will be back to Rome, just not to the hotel. Maybe we got it on a bad week, or they thought we looked young... who knows?
