My Partner and I travelled to Rome for 4 nights, to do the touristy thing and see the sights. The hotel is a 10 min walk to the Coluseum, and most the other sights are walkable in under an hour. We were booked in at the Mecenate Palace Hotel in one of there deluxe double rooms and wow what a view we had. Our room over looked the Sant Maria Maggiore one of Rome's finest churches. Upon our arrival at the hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was well sound proofed which cut out virtually all the traffic noise. The room was very clean and was maintained each day by the maids. Being in a clean and friendly hotel made our stay in Rome all the more enjoyable. P.S, What a great breakfast.!!!!!!!!!

My friend booked this hotel through priceline and bid on it sight unseen. It was a bargain for a 4 star and was way beyond our expectations. Breakfast was included and was diverse and good. We were uprgaded to a suite, with ample sitting room with fridge and bar and tv, bedroom with two single beds and tv, and a beautiful bath with jacuzzi. It was located within walking distance of Termini station, a metro stop and also close enough to walk to the Colliseum and Roman Forum. The view from the roof of the hotel was amazing. They asked if we minded staying in their annex which is just 2 doors down and right next door to a gelateria. I think it was more quiet and possibly more modern than the main hotel and we just loved it. I have another trip to Rome coming up in the spring and will certainly book there. The staff speak impeccable English and are as professional as you could find anywhere. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. I live in Italy and I know how this hotel compares to other European hotels. It is remarkable.

My husband and I finished our two week honeymoon in Rome with three nights at the Mecante Palace. We were surprised by its location right from the start - we had thought it was more central, but it is def. further away from the main sites and attractions in Rome. It isn't too far, but we were not in the thick of things nor were we expecting a $20 taxi ride to get to the Pantheon area.

Our room was very tiny and hot. The hotel had "turned off" the ac unit because there had been a few cooler days in late October. There really was no air running at all out of the circulation system and we had to request a fan (which they provided). The breakfast was a little dissapointing as well - it was included in the rate, but needs some improvement. The fruit was very clearly from a can and the meat was coldcuts on a platter. A platter of eggs or something like that at no additional rate would be a nice touch.

Overall, the gentleman at the front desk were helpful when we asked for suggestions. There was one in particular however, who was pretty haughty. The drinks at the hotel bar were very overpriced as well.

We were busy seeing the sites of Rome for the most part, so did not hang out at the hotel too long, but overall, it was just okay.

We recently stayed a the Mecenate Palace hotel for three nights. Overall, we were disappointed in the property. The lobby is very opulent. Upon entry of the hotel you think, "WOW this is a very upscale hotel." Once you get to your room the story is very different. The rooms are very small (which we expectetd, it's Eurpoe!), but the room smelled musky, the beds were very hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were as flat as a pancake. The worst part of all, WE WERE HOT! We could not cool down. We complained to the front desk that we felt the air conditioning was not working, but nothing really got done to remedy the problem. Like us, we had friends who stayed at the hotel and they prepaid. They arrived after us. At check in our friends were told that the hotel was booked. They did not have a room for them. They tried putting our friends up at another hotel near by, but the quality was even worse. After much complaining some how a room was found for our friends at the Mecenate. Just a bad experience all the way around.

This hotel was recommended by a fellow Slow Food member. We spent 2 weeks in Italy - we were staying at a friend's house in the Tuscan hills and this was our only hotel stay during the trip.

It is close to the Termini for arriving by train. Staff is very friendly and the breakfast was excellent with a nice terrace view. Easy to get around town from this point. For dinners, venture to other areas of Rome - or eat big lunches while out and about, which is what we did.
