At first I was hesitant because this hotel was, on the map, pretty close to the Termini and I'd heard that neighborhood wasn't great. Yes, this wasn't the Via Condotti or Via Venito BUT, as hotels in Europe are still so expensive, it really turned out to be fine. A short 4 block walk to the Termini put us right alongside EVERY bus in Rome, including the open top buses. So we went everywhere on a bus pass, effortlessly. The neighborhood was fine just not fancy and there wasn't much shopping nearby. BUT the highlight was being across the street from the Maria Maggiore Church. One of the four original churches this is a must see but yet a lot of people miss it.
The staff at this hotel was helpful but not overly so. When we checked in, it felt like..."OK here are the 5 places you need to visit while you're here. Your room is number xxx. See you." They answered questions and helped with reservations for restaurants...don't get me wrong. It was just a little cool...not cold....
The room was fine but the bathroom was a bit seedy. Not dirty...just worn a bit.
The best part of the hotel was the rooftop bar. At the end of a VERY long day, it was a treat to sit upstairs, gaze out over the Roman rooftops and sip wine. Very lovely spot.
