Four friends stayed in this hotel in May. Staff very friendly and rooms clean. One room more spacious than the other but both with great views of the Cathedral. Towels were changed every day and lovely fluffy dressing gowns in bathroom. Free use of safe in the rooms and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast in the roof terrace was really good. Tea and coffee at breakfast was always cold, (only complaint)View from terrace great.
Handy shops and restaurants nearby.. small supermarket accross the road and downstairs from the ice cream shop to the left of department store UPIM. Bus from the airport to Termini only cost 8Euro. Taxi driver tried to charge us 30euros from Termini to hotel but it is only a five minute walk.
Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We traveled to Rome with our two children who are 5 and 3.5 years and stayed at the Mecenate Palace. I wasn't sure what to expect based on a few reviews but it really was so much better. We had stayed in very small hotels in Rome, pre-kids, with small rooms. The lobby was spacious and our room was perfect for the 4 of us. No, we weren't running laps but it's relative to Rome. The kids played on the bed and floor and the bathroom could fit all of us if necessary. When we pulled the curtains, the room was dark, which is always a bonus. There's noise but it's Rome! We were close enough to Termini to walk to it but far enough to not feel like we were amongst an element. The hotel staff were all friendly and recommended a restaurant called Angelo's Pizza which was perfect. We were near a grocery store as well as a beautiful church (Santa Maria Maggiore). Every day we hopped on the Metro and went some where different. I'm sure there are other hotels which are bigger and maybe better located but we were really happy with it. And it was a 4 star hotel which means it really was quite nice.

very conveniently located a few minutes walk from the railway station, right by the lovely church of Santa Maria Maggiore and a leisurely stroll to the other major sites/sights, assuming you, like me, find part of the joy of a new city is in discovering it on foot. Staff were charming, the buffet breakfast was very good and the view from the roof garden was wonderful. Of course the rooms might seem small for some of our American friends but the hotel has been tastefully converted from an old palace and the twin I shared with my mother was more than adequate - and I liked having a kettle in the room to make a cup of tea at the end of day's sight/site seeing. Recommended!

We were expecting the rooms to be a little more luxurious, but this was a very comfortable, clean hotel. The views from the rooftop were lovely. The bed linen & towels were changed daily and we were provided with lovely white, fluffy towelling bath robes!!! Breakfasts were excellent with a very good choice of rolls, pastries, ham, cheeses, conserves, fresh fruit and cereal. Plent of hot tea & coffee. The location was great for sight seeing, with the 'Hop on - Hop Off' buses running from just outside the hotel. DO NOT get your tickets in the hotel as you will pay approx £10 each more than if you buy them from the bus reps.
Rome is very expensive for eating out, with 2 small cappucino's costing £10 in some places!!! More if you want to drink them outside!!
Can recommend Ristorante.Le 2 Colonne, which is just to the left of the Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore. Good food quite reasonably priced.
BEWARE of the Gladiators!!!! They will approach you with friendly chat, ask if you want a photo, then charge you anything between £5.00 - £20.00 for this. get a price first if you want a photo.

booked for a 4 day honeymoon and was an absolute dream from start to finish. The hotel knew it was our honeymoon (thank you expedia) and upgraded us to an executive suite so cant comment on a normal room- absolutely huge bed and room with air con, terrace area shared with 2 other rooms and an built in radio on the bathroom!! jacuzzi bath and beautiful bathroom. the rest of the hotel is also very very pretty inside. room was absolutely silent which was amazing considering we were on a busy main road although again we were in a room in the back of the hotel.

good continental breakfast is served on a gfantastic roof terrace with views over the church. great ice cream shop just downstairs (plus a very expensive but very nice one next door!)

location is excellent a 10 minute walk or less to the Colleseum, maybe 10 more to trevi, the only thing we used the transport for was the vatican and you are 5 minutes from termini

staff are fabulous we were served a drink in the little bar when we arrived as our room wasnt quite ready and reception couldnt have been more helpful with a free map to all the major sights.
really cannot recommend this hotel enough. amazing!!
