We stayed at the hotel from the 28th to the 31st of January 2009.
The hotel was very hospitable; the front desk staff couldn’t do enough for you whether it was a simple location on the free map or an advice of where to eat.
The bar man was very helpful and a very nice person to talk to. He knew how to make you feel comfortable with a drink.
The breakfast was ok and very well presented; you can eat as much as you like. I can recommend the bacon and eggs but you have to pay extra for that.
The coffee was very rich not strong if you are British, stick with tea; also go early for breakfast as between 9:30 and 10 you might have to wait 5 minutes before you get a table.
The room 402 was very comfortable with everything you need.
We always came back to find the room clean and tidy with all bathroom consumables replenished.
You can even listen to the radio in the bathroom.
We used the taxi service from the airport this I wouldn’t recommend as the car was scruffy, the back suspension was banging about. We mentioned this to the hotel and they contacted the hire company they said they were sorry and gave us a discount on the return trip, the same car turned up. Amazing.
So not advisable, especially at the price.
When I go back to Rome I will use this hotel again Just a shame about the car.

We arrived late at night and the reception staff couldn't have been more helpful. They phoned around for us and made us a reservation at a lovely nearby restaurant. They organised cabs and bus tours for us - nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel was in a great location near the termini and bus stops. The cafe on the corner was a real find too.
The room was small but clean and as the pictures on the web site. Our bathroom was in need of upgrading but our friend in the next room had a fabulous marble bathroom - they are working their way through them.
Breakfast was a typical continental affair but the rooftop setting was a bit different.
The weather was unseasonably warm which helped with us to enjoy the whole experience more.

This place is awesome. Great location as it's on the hop on, hop off tour bus routes which we used as bus service to get to and from the various Rome attractions. Our room was exactly as pictured on their website...service was professional and courteous. We paid extra and had a view of the Palace which I'd highly recommend. Our room came with continental breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was pretty good! With careful planning, lunch could be your supper! We found the lunch menu pretty good and the portions a good size. Very clean well maintained hotel and within walking distance of many historical sites (but it would be a long walk). I'd definitely stay here on a return trip to Rome.

My wife and I stayed as the Mecenate Palace for five nights (Dec. 30-Jan 3, 2009). We were thrilled with the room. It was elegant. When at first we thought there was some unpainted paneling in the bathroom we looked closer to see it was actually marble. The location across the plaza from the Santa Maria Maggiore (Major) Church was excellent. It gave us easy access via the right side to Via Torino to Via Nazionale or via the left side of the church to Via Cavour and many resturants and trattatorias. It is also close to the train station. The hotel concierge(s) was wonderful. Gave great directions on a map they provided. Set us up with a box breatkfast for the morings we toured the Vatican and Pompeii. Arranged for a trip to Pompeii and again provided a box breakfast delivered to our room at 6 a.m. The roof top restuarant breakfast was very good with good views of Rome and from our room as well.
Overall a very nice hotel. We'd stay there again.
