My partner and I are just back from a 5 day trip to Rome where we stayed in the Hotel Amalfi. I have to say I wasn't sure what to expect from the reviews I had read....I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located centrally but in a way that allows the visitor to see a more "real", less "tourist" side of Rome although all major sites and tourist attractions are easily obtainable via hop on hop off tour bus that is a 1 min stroll from the hotel (which is also an excellent service €18 for a two day ticket to all attractions). Hotel Amalfi is rustic and gives you a romantic feel not the bland samey atmosphere at some of the pricier hotels in the more popular areas. Breakfast is a basic continental affair - nice coffee/breads/meats/cheeses etc... very nice and just right to start your day. Staff are very friendly and helpful arranging airport transfer and recommending some fantastic places to eat. Lots of really nice places to eat/drink a couple of mins stroll from the hotel. Rooms are small but add to the feel that you are somewhere cosy and romantic. I can't wait to return to the Hotel Amalfi.
