I stayed at The Amalfi on a weekend break with my elderly mother. The hotel is just 5 mins from the Termini station and within walking distance of most sights. It has a lift so is good for older visitors. The rooms are spotless but a little small. Also depending on where your room is it can be a little noisy ( this is the only negative). The hotel staff are v.friendly and the breakfast is pretty good ( hams, cheeses, fresh rolls, pastries, juices, etc). I'd definitely reccommend this hotel for a short break in Rome .

the amalfi hotel is value for money well positioned for sightseeing, the only thing that was lacking was there was no tea or coffee making facility in the rooms after a days walking around rome a cup of coffee was needed.the rooms are very clean and the maid came everyday. breakfast was ok if you like jam and bread ! but for the price what can you expect.

We stayed at this hotel for 4nights on our honeymoon. It was in a good location by the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, which was about 10minutes walk from Termini, but far enough away to avoid the seedier feel of the Termini area. It was also close to a metro station, 3 minutes walk away, and there were restaurants and shops on the street. The room was double glazed so there was only the occasional bit of traffic noise and had shutters to keep the light and heat out so you could sleep late. The room was pretty tiny though - although everyone tells me all hotels in Rome are like this if you want a central location and don't want to pay hundreds of pounds. There was just enough room for the bed, a wardrobe, and two bedside tables. The bathroom had just a shower and it was really tiny - I'm 5' 11'' and found it hard to wash my hair without hitting my head on the wall, but the water pressure was good. The hotel had four floors and the lift only fitted 2 people, so it wouldn't be good for people who have a fear of tiny lifts, or can't manage stairs. You had to wait for breakfast at peak time too because the breakfast room didn't have many tables. But the staff were friendly and the location and price made up for the size of the room.

  • Liked — the location and price
  • Disliked — the size of the room especially the bathroom!

This is quirky and fun. Easily missed in the pouring rain, it is the first block on the road when approaching from Termini. Room 316 has 3 beds and the only balcony which has a lovely view of the church in the square.
Toilet area was a challenge, but we could all do with losing a bit of weight. Great central location, nice brekkie, and for people who want to go all the way to Rome to watch English Language TV then 24 hours of CNN will soon get you back on the streets.
Best eats Trastevere in the square of Santa Maria.
Fabulous time away.

  • Liked — location and family run atmosphere
  • Disliked — toilet to shower ratio a bit tight in terms of space

We were a bit worried about staying at the Amalfi as it had mixed reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel is well situated for the main attractions of Rome, and we walked to the Colisseum, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon (although we definitely didn't feel like walking back!) It is also near Termini Station (although not too near) and the bus station. The rooms are on the small side, but nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was adequate with a good selection and the waitress in the mornings is very welcoming and helpful. The only problems we had were with the check-in and the telephone. As we arrived at eleven, we couldn't access our room until 1pm and this seems to be a very strict rule at the hotel. We had been travelling since 1am and were very tired, so just wanted to have anap, a shower and change our clothes. It would be nice if they had a shower/changing room for guests who are either early for check in, or have to check out in the morning but are not leaving until late in the afternoon. I have stayed at a hotel in Rome that had this facility and it was very welcome after walking around in the heat all day. The only other problem was the phone in the room, it never seemed to work. I either had no dialling tone, or once it rang the other end I got cut off. I complained twice but nobody came and checked it. All in all I would recommend this hotel if you want clean basic accommodation near all the attractions.

  • Liked — Its location and clealiness of the room
  • Disliked — No early check-in! Not enough storage space
