We were a bit worried about staying at the Amalfi as it had mixed reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel is well situated for the main attractions of Rome, and we walked to the Colisseum, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon (although we definitely didn't feel like walking back!) It is also near Termini Station (although not too near) and the bus station. The rooms are on the small side, but nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was adequate with a good selection and the waitress in the mornings is very welcoming and helpful. The only problems we had were with the check-in and the telephone. As we arrived at eleven, we couldn't access our room until 1pm and this seems to be a very strict rule at the hotel. We had been travelling since 1am and were very tired, so just wanted to have anap, a shower and change our clothes. It would be nice if they had a shower/changing room for guests who are either early for check in, or have to check out in the morning but are not leaving until late in the afternoon. I have stayed at a hotel in Rome that had this facility and it was very welcome after walking around in the heat all day. The only other problem was the phone in the room, it never seemed to work. I either had no dialling tone, or once it rang the other end I got cut off. I complained twice but nobody came and checked it. All in all I would recommend this hotel if you want clean basic accommodation near all the attractions.
