Stayed at this hotel end of April 2006 for 3 nights, it was truly wonderful. The room and location were terrific for seeing rome and taxi's are plentiful to get out and about.
The staff at this hotel were extremely helpful, and very good to use as a source to help you find places to eat, Rome details and were always on hand to help you out.

Didnt eat in the hotel so cannot comment, but overall impression on my stay was excellent, I would recommend to anyone wanting a weekend break in Rome.

At my stay in February 2006, they gave me an upgrade (since I am member of the Leaders club) to a room which was located on the 6th floor. It was very big (about 40-50m2), consisting of a room with a couch and a B&O-interactive TV, a big bedroom, also with interactive B&O-TV and a big bathroom. The room was absoultely nice and modern decorated and quiet, on arrival we got a basket with fresh fuit and complementary mineral water. The room has been cleaned two times a day (as it is usual in 5-star-hotels). They showed me also a room in the first floor (superior room, ca. 25-30 m2) which was also very nice and modern decorated.

I cannot understand that a few people in this forum claim that the rooms in the hotel are dated, small and loud.

Any member of the staff was very pleasant and helpful, much more helpful than other 5-star-hotel staff in other big european or american cities.

The baby restaurant (which is rated with 1 Michelin star; in my opinion it is underrated) is managed by Don Alfonso who is one of the best chefs in Italy. It is a modern decorated restaurant. Food is very, very good (most from Campania (south Italy), light and much, much, much better than in "La Pergola" (Cavalieri Hilton, Rome; chef: Heinz Beck).

The sourroundig of the hotel is great and quiet. Every morning I was jogging in the "Villa Borghese park" which was only 3 minutes away. To get to the spanish steps it is a ten to fifteen minutes walk through the park.

I can highly recommand this hotel and its restaurant.

I stayed at the Aldrovandi Palace Hotel from 25.01.06 - 27.01.06.

On the first morning at around 8am (!) they started renovation of the bathroom ceiling right next door to our room.

When I called the front desk someone showed up and explained that "a guest is taking a shower next door in the bathroom" while you could hear the hammering and sawing !?!

He refused to do anything about the noise as it was a "guest". After breakfast - there was no sleeping any longer possible - we noticed through the open door next to our room that two handymen were fixing and renovating the ceiling of the bathroom.
We found this "service- and guest oriented" behaviour unacceptable.

The next day I found some appliances the handymen must have used for renovating the bathroom wrapped around my toothbrush in our bathroom - an extra "joke" by the hotel.

Forget the breakfast as for 29,- Euro any 3 star hotel can do much better and coffee would probably be hotter and the orange juice be fresher.

A strong non-recommendation !

Dear TripAdvisor Member from Netherlands,

I have carefully read your e-mail and please let me express my deepest regret for what happened to you during your stay in Rome.

On behalf of the Aldrovandi Palace, please accept my sincere apologies for this inconvenience and for the terrible behaviour of our staff. I totally agree with you, this is really unacceptable.

I am in this company for a long time and something like this fortunately never happened. Mantainance works are certainly important, but more important is the relax of our guests.

I am personally acting along with our Executive Manager and taking measures to prevent it to happen in future. Please be really assured that a complaint of its kind will be absolutely avoided in the future.

Best Regards,

Annamaria Calise

We stayed at the hotel in the week before New Year. Despite other reviews, the hotel is clearly a 5 star hotel. The front desk and staff are helpful, the rooms are a good standard and the decor is reasonable. There is a very comfortable lobby, with a bar, which is nice to relax in.

The baby restaurant was excellent and the prices are not expensive for this type of gourmet food. Alfonso Iaccarrino was in the restaurant and visited all the tables. Unlike the rest of the hotel, the decor in the restaurant is very contemporary.

The breakfast, at something like €28 per person, is a ridiculous price. This may work for business, who can use their expense account, but this is too much for leisure travellers.

While the hotel is not directly in the centre, it is not bery far from the centre. The courtesy bus was good and the cost of a couple of taxis still makes the hotel cheaper than some of the hotels in the centre.

We found this a very relaxing place to stay. Based on the service and amenities, it is cleary a 5 star hotel. While I am sure that there are other better top end hotels in Rome, these are also likely to be more expensive. Our room rate for this hotel, around €175 per night, was very reasonable for the good service provided.

We stayed here for four days over the New Year period and enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is old world Luxury. Probably not up to modern Leading Hotels of The World Standard but a nice hotel in a traditional italian way. The hotel bar is expensive at roughly £10 per drink for a spirit. We had a snack each and three bloody mary cocktails which came to 95euros! Not cheap for a snack and a few drinks! Good location and a nice walk through the park to the spanish steps. Staff very friendly and helpful..but then at the prices they charge they should be! We always stay at the Leading Hotels of the World chain or alternative 5 star but this was the most expensive hotel for sundries we have experienced in the world so far...apart from the Ritz in London. Enjoyable stay but would rate it 7 out of 10.
