Ok,
First the good. This hotel is quite clean, and the restaurant had reasonable prices. Also, the room rates here are significantly less than the luxury hotels just a block away on the Via Veneto. I would also recommend this to anyone without children, and who don't mind a few "issues" and want to be close to the Via Veneto. I agree with other reviewers that "La Bruscetta" was a good restaurant just SW of the hotel. There is also a rather large two story restaurant to the East that was quite good.
Now for the "issues".
#1) This hotel is used by the big tour groups like "Perillo". When the bus pulls up, the already over worked front desk comes to a grinding halt. We needed access to the only computer for the internet in the lobby, and they just told us "it was broken". It wasn't they just didn't want to deal with us when a tour group was checking in. Not good if you need to depart for a flight.
2) They initally gave us an outdated and unsafe baby crib from probably the 1930's. At first I thought oh well, we'll make do, then I realized, wait a minute this is the EU and there are standards, and the last four hotels gave us exactly the same crib. So after much fuss with the front desk and after telling me they didn't have any, I said we'd most likely have to find another hotel for safety concerns - they magically produced the standard crib.
3) On your last day, watch out for the "airport taxi" scam. I'm pretty sure the front desk at all hotels get commission kickbacks for "private hire" cars, so here's how it works. Your checking out and say you need a taxi to the airport, two of there bellman said "oh would you like a private car?" I asked how much, and they said " Oh, its the same as a taxi, about 65 Euros". I said "wait a minute were going to CIAMPINO, and I"m pretty sure this airport is only 18 miles from here. They insisted it was the same distance as Fiumicomo, and I should take there suggested private car. They play this game, because they know you have a limited amount of time, and might just say yes to them. Well, we took the taxi, arrived in 23 minutes, and it only cost 28 Euros. That's enough to leave you steaming!!!!
#4) Room condition. The shower head was broken, and the mini bar latch was broken. Our toddler could constinently open the bar, so we had to put a chair in front of it. The door to the bathroom hit the floor, so anytime we had to use the bathroom at night, it woke everyone else up. After politely asking for a repair, they fixed the shower head - that was it. The minibar needed 1 minute with a screwdriver, same for the door.
So again, if I were 25 and single, or staying with just one other person, and on a budget- this hotel should be just fine. It's just not perfect.
