From March25 through April1, I stayed at the Delta Colosseo. I found the staff to be very friendly and extremely accommodating when possible. Honestly, after reading a few of the reviews here. I was a bit nervous, but my anxiety was swiftly put to rest upon arrival to the hotel. My room, although very small by US standards, was quite clean and comfortable, and I do have to admit that the shower was a tight squeeze (I believe it may have been placed as an afterthought during the hotel's renovation).

The breakfast buffet was quite adequate, even for the heartiest of appetites, and included a variety of breads, pasteries, cereals, fruits and eggs, meats and cheeses...all very fresh.

The location was on a wider, and busy street, but having lived in the city, I was not bothered by the noise when I opened my window to sleep at night. The Colosseum and Metro train are less than a five minute walk, and there are a number of shops and services in the neighborhood.. True, room service does not rank up there in score, but there are so many places outside the door, including both restaraunts and small grocers, the only time I used it was for my morning coffee.

All of that being said, I would not hesitate to stay here again, and am looking forward to another visit within the next year.

I stayed just for one night in this hotel, thanks God! I was on a business trip and arrive late at night. They said there was, but there wasn't room service, as I had to go down to the bar, ask there for the menu (the choice was a slice of precooked pizza or a precooked sandwich), and go back to my room, wich was tiny, with a column in the middle, just in front of the TV. They hardly speak any other language than Italian, though most of the staff were nice. In fact I am so dissapointed because this is not even a one star hotel, and we paid for much more than that, actually they claim to be a four star hotel?!

A lovely, clean and welcoming hotel. A very quiet hotel in the evening - no noise from traffic even though the hotel is situated on the main road. Great location for all the tourist sights - all the main sights within walking distance - fantastic to see the Colleseum at night all lit up - breathtaking!
Food good and plenty of choice - something to suit everyone. Staff very helpful. Take a map from the reception desk to find your way around.

The hotel is only a 2 or 3 minute walk from the colosseum and some rooms have a view of it. Not alot of shopping nearby, but there are some little cafes with great food in the nearby blocks. Most of the hotel employees speak english well and are very helpful. The rooms are small overall, some smaller than others. It seemed like the rooms on the corners of the hotel were larger and they had a tub and a shower in the bathroom (even though the tubs were very small). Our room only had a shower stall which was tiny, a larger person would not fit in it comfortably (smaller people don't even fit in it comfortably). We couldn't get the heat turned off completely or the air turned on in our room. Other guests also complained about how hot and uncomfortable their room was. We had to sleep with the windows open which made it very comfortable for us. Unfortunately there are no screens on the windows and the streets are EXTREMELY noisy all night long (the noise stops breifly around 5am only to start about an hour or 2 later). There is a rooftop patio that offers outstanding views of the city (great for taking pictures). There is also a pool and a bar on the patio, but they are closed for the winter months. Many attractions are within walking distance, but there is a bus stop across the street and the metro is just down the street across from the colosseum. The front desk will also call a cab for you, but some of the other guests advised that their cabbies "took them for a ride" or "took the scenic route", however the three times that we took a taxi we never had a problem.
The hotel and the park beside the hotel were actually built on top of the site of Emperor Nero's golden palace. If you go into the hotels garage there are walls and walkways from the palace still there behind plexi-glass. Hotel employees told us that it is believed to be the basement of the palace that we can currently see in hte hotel garage. There is also a statue of the Emperor Augustus in the lobby that is an exact replica of a statue that was found in the basement of the palace/hotel during excavation.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay. The service was good and the hotel and rooms were clean. They offer a complimentary breakfast that you can enjoy in the breakfast room, or have sent to your room if you fill out a form the night before. They also have laundry service available (which is helpful because you wont find a laundomat). We would stay here again.

This hotel has a great position close to the colosseum but the room I had (a single) was the smallest I encountered in my trip around Italy and in fact it was even smaller than the 1 star hotel I once stayed in in New York. I was there for 4 nights so it did matter more than if I had been only staying overnight. The shower was more like a step in broom closet. If you drop the soap you have to step out and pick it up and step back in. Washing my hair was difficult. The sullen Manager who didnt believe that the aircon wasnt working and his inference that it must be me my fault somehow even though I reported it twice and no one even checked it and the fact he didnt want to help me out with change of some notes or directions to the nearest supermarket added to my overall disatisfaction with the hotel. I must say the other staff though I encountered were polite and tried to be helpful.
The location was great but I wouldnt stay there again.
