“Cramped and very stingy staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Spent three nights and booked mainly for location. Do not take a room on the ground floor as they are really cramped and are like prison cells. The wifi and mobile does not work in these rooms. The staff is really rude and will not answer more than one question at a time. One of my friends was told that this is not a tourist inquiry and we cannot take any questions for the amount you pay and the guy went back to watching TV. The night clerks are even worse. The elevator breaks down frequently so best to use the stairs. The breakfast is crappy and they serve sugar water with fruit concentrate and call it juice. Coffee actually looks like sewer water. It is recommended that you eat in the many restaurants in the area.

Our group booked a quadruple room here at the very last minute after having a horrible experience at the Prince Inn. We were relieved to find a large room with a cot and sofa for the two extra beds, and a large clean bathroom. The hotel was slightly cluttered due to renovation works, but otherwise a lovely place. Breakfast started early and was plentiful and filling. Nothing too special, but a decent place in a good location. Centrally located on Via Cavour. Within walking distance from the major sights (if young and up for walking!) Would definitely recommend to any travellers.

Borromeo is all about its location. Central to everything and some brilliant restaurants nearby. Be sure to walk down every side street, this is where the best eateries are found.

The rooms here, were dated, dank, dark and in desperate need of a freshen up / makeover. Our room was a 5/10, Friends we had staying downstairs we staying in a room which almost resembled a hostel would score a 1/10. How could any hotel room two people in a room with 4 beds and 2 bathrooms!! Not the best by any stretch of the imagination.

Dear Guest,

you've been so kind to post your marvellous review about us and our Hotel.
We'll be glad to give you a bigger internal room next time you want to came to us, you can just mail us before your arrival, asking for this request.
Let me only clarify that our tv system has channels in different languages (English, French, Deutsche, etc) please ask to reception if not easy to find and in rooms facing on the street we have double windows but of course internal room are really quiet.
Waiting for you next time in Rome!

Stayed in Hotel Borromeo last week for 4 nights and would definitely recommend. We asked for a quiet room with terrace and got exactly that. Room was small but well equipped with modern fittings, comfortable bed and kept spotlessly clean. Our private terrace was gorgeous and ideal for an alfresco vini rossi to round off the evening. Breakfast served 7-10am and plenty of fresh choices whatever time you arrive.
Perfect location, walking distance to everything and plenty of eateries nearby.
Would not hesitate to return.

This hotel wasn't originally on my radar, but once it caught my attention I knew it was the one! Great location, walking distance to everything, and wonderful restaurants nearby. Short walk from Termini - maybe 10 minutes - and about the same distance to the Cavour metro stop. The hotel itself is charming and clean. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom plenty big. There were two small negatives...neither one a deal breaker for us. First, the room was very small. Big deal. It was big enough. Second, it was stuffy. This was easily remedied by opening the window a bit.
After a comfortable night's sleep we headed up to the breakfast area to refuel for the day's activities. There was plenty to choose from, including scrambled eggs and ham. Really good coffee, too.

Room Tip: Easily walked to and from Termini. It's a straight shot down Via Cavour.

Room 303 is just about big enough for 1 double and 1 single bed. It is on the top floor (3rd) - via a lift. it has a large terrace, which gets the morning sun ( in late February).
The room was cleaned and towels changed every day if you wanted. The room was quiet but take earplugs anyway. The small tv had a range of news and other channels. The small fridge contained a few bottles and snacks but had room for your own stuff. The heating/air con worked well. It was cold and wet in Rome for part of our stay. There were reading lights and enough power points in the room. NO KETTLE in the room.
The bathroom was clean and modern - hairdryer, bidet, power shower (no bath) - sulphur smell at times from the water.
Brekfast was served in the 3rd floor breakfast room just down the corridor. Usual Italian stuff, mainly sweet pastries, croissants, fruit, bread, cheese, salami, cereals etc plus scrambled eggs and bacon bits. Served till 10.00am.
The hotel reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Reception area is small - a few seats and a small bar, not really a comfortable area to relax and have a drink but OK to grab a coffee.
Hotel is a 20 minute downhill walk or short taxi/bus ride from Terminin main station. Easy uphill 15 mins walk from cavour Metro station.
You are about 20 minutes easy walk downhill to the Colosseum, Forum etc. We bought a public transport weekly ticket for 24 euros and it was very convenient to be able to hop on the buses, trams or metro at will but we didn't use it as much as we thought we would.
Take comfortable waterproof shoes - you will walk miles every day and the cobbled, hilly streets are hard on your feet.

Room Tip: Room 303, 302 and 301 have private terraces but 303's terrace is huge and opens off the room...
