All hotel reviews are based on previous hotel experience and standards that you personally expect. I earn an average wage and expect a clean, well presented/decorated room that is big enough to swing a cat with helpful, courteous staff.
I booked this through a v well known UK website advertising as their most popular 4 star hotel in Rome for a romantic getaway. If you read no further then it ticks the above requirements...just...but does not set the world alight. Look elsewhere in my opinion.
Why? Well, it is not really centrally located. If you want to walk around the city. Then prepare to WALK. It takes 40 to 50 minutes to walk from/to the colleseum or Vatican. The room was clean but the carpets in the hallway were dirty throughout stay. Breakfast was passable. BASIC staff helpfulness should start, at the very least with your bags being taken to your room and being shown where it is. NOT being asked to take your bags into a room up the stairs while your room is prepared upon arrival. Air conditioning did not work. Shower was very small. Room size was small/ok and decor was good but this was not our original room. Upon first arriving we went to our original room to find that it had not been cleaned and I was NOT impressed with the decor. Luckily our second room was passable so they avoided an angry client. Incidentally when I was walking in the hall I heard another person asking to change rooms because he did not like it. I did not hear the full reason.
That said we had a pleasant stay. If I were to return I would definately pay a little extra to stay more centrally but if you do stay here...well...what can I say...'its just ok'.! If you're looking for a romantic weekend at a hotel with a little romantic vibe then look elsewhere. Would I recommend.....well in the absence of a 'not sure' then I vote probably not. Its a 3 possibly 3.5 star.
