All hotel reviews are based on previous hotel experience and standards that you personally expect. I earn an average wage and expect a clean, well presented/decorated room that is big enough to swing a cat with helpful, courteous staff.
I booked this through a v well known UK website advertising as their most popular 4 star hotel in Rome for a romantic getaway. If you read no further then it ticks the above requirements...just...but does not set the world alight. Look elsewhere in my opinion.

Why? Well, it is not really centrally located. If you want to walk around the city. Then prepare to WALK. It takes 40 to 50 minutes to walk from/to the colleseum or Vatican. The room was clean but the carpets in the hallway were dirty throughout stay. Breakfast was passable. BASIC staff helpfulness should start, at the very least with your bags being taken to your room and being shown where it is. NOT being asked to take your bags into a room up the stairs while your room is prepared upon arrival. Air conditioning did not work. Shower was very small. Room size was small/ok and decor was good but this was not our original room. Upon first arriving we went to our original room to find that it had not been cleaned and I was NOT impressed with the decor. Luckily our second room was passable so they avoided an angry client. Incidentally when I was walking in the hall I heard another person asking to change rooms because he did not like it. I did not hear the full reason.

That said we had a pleasant stay. If I were to return I would definately pay a little extra to stay more centrally but if you do stay here...well...what can I say...'its just ok'.! If you're looking for a romantic weekend at a hotel with a little romantic vibe then look elsewhere. Would I recommend.....well in the absence of a 'not sure' then I vote probably not. Its a 3 possibly 3.5 star.

It was newly remodeled. The rooms were beautiful and super clean. There was internet connection in the room . The breakfast was excellent. The hotel staff was so pleasant and offered a drink upon check-in. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and am looking forward to my return visit. Downtown Rome is 10/ minutes away. Super great price for a city break stay.

I did not tell my boyfreind about the other reviews i had read on this sight till we were going up in the lift , the first thing i did was pull back the sheets and covers , i must say it all looked very clean apart from the arm pit smell from the top cover. we had a 2 hour nap and woke up with 5 or 6 bites on our neck. we went and showed the bites at recption who said that we could change our room the next day. reception also sent up houskeeping to check the beds , he broght us a new blanket and took the old tattey one. i asked him if the hotel had bed bugs? he said he did not know! well, the answere is either yes or no !we moved the next day to a superior room and did not get bitten again but i did feel sorry for the next couple going in to that room.
the breakfast was terrible, cold greasy bacon and slimey scrambled egg pickled cabbage and pickled onions and no fresh fruit (only tinned) the toast and preserves were nice. loads of people piled the plates up and left the food which was a big waste
loved the free sweets in reception
loved the free bottle of wine
loved the pizza resturant across the road.

  • Liked — the reception area
  • Disliked — the bites we got from the room, top covers on the bed did not smell fresh

This is a very comfortable hotel with English-speaking staff that is walkable from the train station. The room was standard but very comfortable. The breakfast, which is included with the room, was fantastic. The frontside restaurant is also very good - one of the best pizzas we had in 2 weeks in Italy - seriously. . Apparently it is easy to take the bus into downtown, and the bus stop is right next door, but we really preferred to walk.
