On arriving at the hotel we were impressed with the overall look of the hotel. Our room was large, air conditioned and spotlessly clean with lots of little luxuries. The free parking was a bonus and the car seemed to be safe enough in the hotel's grounds. The hotel was excellent, how ever it had a couple of issues.
We did make the mistake of eating in the restaurant the first night. It was extremely overpriced and believe it or not they had the cheek to serve frozen pizza and then charge you 15euros for it. The rest of the food was dreadful and breakfast was not much better but at least it was included in the room rate.
One of the reason we chose this hotel was the free shuttle bus, as the plan was to leave the car and use that to travel to the city centre. The 1st day the 3pm didn't show up to return to the hotel so we had to wait til 4pm for the next one. With 2 small children that was no fun in the blazing heat. After that we decided to forget the shuttle and drive ourselves which was a lot easy than we thought it would be. However some of the roads had no markings and no apparent rules, a little scary but highly amusing.
The swimming pool was lovely after sightseeing in the city. The kids loved it and we had lots of fun. The pool was worth being that little bit further out of the city centre. It was about a 10 minute drive from the vatican, 15 minutes from the colosseum, not very far at all.
We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and we would definately return to the hotel when we visit Rome again.
Tip - August is great time to vist as the city is empty so it's a tourist's playground. You just have to take it easy in the heat. Buy your drinks from the supermarkets as a can of soda can be as much as 6 Euros.
