My daughter and I stayed here for three nights in room 526.

I booked through expedia. Well, we were very surprised at our booking at this hotel. It is a very nice hotel in the ATA Hotel chain. It has all the amenities of a 4+star hotel. Our room was ready when we checked in and we were very pleased with it. There were two single beds a table and big balcony with a table and seats. The bathroom was big with tub and toilet/bidet. The room was clean and housekeeping did a great job each day we were there... ALSO, I almost forgot they do the nightly turn-down service with the chocolate left bedside. We felt pampered at this hotel. The room had a big plasma with internet access through the TV and in-room movie's (check prices! - if you need to access internet and print anything like maps then go down to business centre on -1 level where you can use it for an hour for 5euro and print away!).

The hotel has a HUGE swimming pool open from 9:30 - 19:30. Swimmers are required to wear swimming caps and they even provide them for free. The pool is great, especially after a long hot day walking around Rome. We wished the hotel would keep the pool open later than 19:30 in the summer especially since the sun doesn't set until 21:30 or so.

The hotel offers a free shuttle van service to and from two destinations - one the northwestern edge of vatican city near the Cipro Metro stop (red line) and the other at a train station at the south of the city centre. The hotel staff provide upon check-in a map of Rome. On this map is information about the shuttle van service and pick-up/drop-off times. The driver's we experienced did not speak english well at all. They were quite funny when yelling "Mama-Mia" when a scooter would cut them off in traffic. They got us around safely during our stay and so I appreciate their efforts.

Quick note about the vatican - Ladies must wear appropriate clothing to enter St. Peter's. No sleeveless attire (bring a silk scarf for your shoulders in your bag on hot days), no swimsuits and no short-shorts for ladies. The security will deny entry to anyone improperly dressed. As for getting around Rome you cannot beat the 1euro fare on the Metro and buses... you get to travel for up to 75mins on a 1euro ticket - this is GREAT! Walking around is fun, but also doing a bit of traveling by Metro meant we got to see a bit more of the city and its' sights.

We had the buffet breakfast each morning and it was big. Plenty to choose from, a few types of eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, cereals and some other hot food items. They also had this great orange juice machine. You pulled on the handle and a few oranges dropped into this crusher and then my glass was filled - and it was the BEST juice I had on my enitre four week holiday around Europe! The staff at breakfast were very friendly and anticipated our drink selections each morning after the first breakfast. Everything at breakfast was perfect.

The hotel also has free parking for guests - which came in VERY handy for our trip to Rome. If you are driving into Rome you should consider staying here as driving around Rome is a nightmare! One way streets all over the place and not so very polite drivers. Sort of like something you'd see on the old Benny Hill show. Park here for your stay, take the free shuttle service and relax in Rome.

There's a good Chinese restaurant near this hotel - email me for info.

We are a party of six aged between 54 -65 our first time in Rome We were totally surprised by our great hotel as other travelers had indicated 4 star was not the same as our 4 star at home but I have to say it was much more We booked through last minute .com it was half the price you would normally pay We had bed and breakfast It was buffet style hot and cold meals with plenty of choices a good start to your day. Rooms were spotless clean bed linen and towels everyday hairdryer and toiletry supplied When you came back after a tiring day you would arrive to find your light on and a chocolate beside your bed the beds were very comfortable The courtesy bus was a big plus and it left you at the metro the metro was very easy to use and we made very good use of it We would recommend you take a trip on the open top bus which is located beside Termini station we went two days 23 euro we could hop on and off we stayed 5 days in Rome and at the end we felt we could give a tour ourselves we did a lot of walking I would recommend shoes that are comfortable even sandles no heels We were on a budget so we took a flask and made up sandwiches and sat outdoors during the day it was great
watch out for service charges check before you go in many display no service charge
now that the euro is the same as the pound it makes it more expensive for us beer and spirits are expensive but you can get a good bottle of wine in the off license for 4 euro
We also found a great pub called The Abby Theater it was an Irish Bar first class Burger and chips and and Fish and Chips plus a drink for six people 62 euro great service near the Piasso Novena side street ask any one its the only irish bar we found the metro is 1 euro buses are 1 euro 58 euro for 6 to the hotel from the airport i would recommend as we arrived at night We had a great time would recommend this hotel only draw back no tea making facilities in our room but I always take a kettle with us

Fantastic hotel with great staff. The breakfast was very good but evening meal was expensive for what you received. The courtesy bus was excellent and the drivers were so helpful to us with a disabled member of our family. Courtsey bus was late one day and the hotel provided a free taxi, could not have asked for better. Lovely quiet location for the kids. thoroughly enjoyed are stay and look forward to returning in the summer months when the pool is open.

Where does one begin? One of the best things about this hotel is the wonderful service - right from the warm welcome at the reception, the friendly courtesy at the bar (not to mention excellent drink choices), and the delightful enthusiasm of the maitre d' in the restaurant. My partner and I were made to feel like stars right from the outset!

The rooms were spacious, very clean (the bathroom was particularly luxurious!), and our room, on the fourth floor, was on a corner so there were balconies with views both to the East and the North.

I didn't get to use the swimming pool but from the outside, it looks great.

One of the best features of this hotel seemed initially to be a disadvantage - its distance from the centre of Rome. It is approx 3km from the Vatican and a similar distance from Trastevere - so a 10 - 13 euro taxi ride. However, its location in a rolling park area of Villa Doria Pamphili means that it is really quiet and tranquil. My previous stay in Rome 10 years ago was in a city centre hotel - and the sound of traffic was unbearable. In Hotel Pamphili, I slept like baby.

And the restaurant - although a typical hotel restaurant, the service which was excellent and the food which was delicious (try the insalata polpino with orange!).

My only criticism is a small one - I have to declare my interest as a jazz singer but please please please invest in getting the bar piano tuned, and tell the singer/ piano player he can perform without recourse to the horrible electric casio backing track!

Otherwise, a wonderful stay - Grazie Molto!

  • Liked — Wonderful Service
  • Disliked — Electric piano with backing track in the bar

We booked this hotel at only $100 a night through hotwire. When we told the manager that it was our 10th wedding anniversary, he upgraded our room. Our room was spacious and we had a stunning view over the pool and into the ruins. It was quiet and the staff was friendly and attentive. The bathroom was very nice and we had a large and comfortable bed. Other reviewers have complained about faded carpeting or peeling wall paper. There is just a tiny bit of that but I never would have noticed it if I hadn't read about it first. It is just normal wear and tear for your typical european hotel.

The hotel boasts an American-style breakfast which they intend to compare against your standard European continental. This means you get the usual pastries and cold cuts plus a few hot items like mass produced scrambled eggs and little sausages. Not excellent but a perfectly fine way to start the day. Coffee was made to order and was excellent, and there is fresh squeezed orange juice.

The hotel lobby could use some updating, and there is this wonderful sort of unintentionally kitsch bar where a one-man show is performed by a lounge singer and his keyboard.

As for the complimentary shuttle service, yes, you are dependent on it to get into the city but we found this to be no problem at all. Plus, Rome is SO noisy, we were grateful to have our quiet resort hotel to come home to after a day of exploring trying to navigate the scooters and other tourists.

Of all the hotels we stayed in during our tow-week trip, this one was a great value and I would stay here again without hesitation for a stay longer than three nights.

  • Liked — Beautiful Surroundings and a great room at a decent price
  • Disliked — the lobby
