“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We have just returned from a 3 night stay,on arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist. The hotel was spotlessly clean as was our room, very comfy bed.The decor is traditional and very reasonably priced for the center of Rome.
Our only criticism was the staff at breakfast there was no guest interaction whatsoever, they appeared quite stand offish & on one occasion we were talking over breakfast with some other guests & the lights were turned on & off suggesting we take our leave which we did find very rude.
Considering we spent most of out time out of the hotel it's a good clean base.

Room Tip: Top floor and rear of hotel as the front of hotel can be quite noisy at night & early morning.

We booked this hotel for 4 nights. On arrival we were warmly greeted and allocated a room on the 4th floor with shower. The lift and corridors to the room were spotlessly clean and decorated in a traditional style. We were delighted to find that the room was very nicely decorated, again in a traditional way befitting this type of hotel, and all the furnishings matched. There was also a mini bar and safe. The only thing missing for us was tea/coffee making facilities, which would have been nice. The bathroom had a walk in shower, hand-basin, bidet and toilet and all the accompanying bath essentials like soap, shower gel etc., and was very clean on arrival and cleaned every day, there was hot water when we showered both in the morning and at night. The bed was lovely and comfortable, with fresh sheets daily. Breakfast was served in a rationally decorated room on the ground floor, the food was plentiful and very tasty with a good selection of fresh (and I mean fresh) fruit, cold meats and cheese, various omelettes and flans, warm croissants and a whole host of various other delicious edibles. The bar was very small, but not surprising when you have almost everything on your doorstep, and one is there to see Rome not sit at the bar in a hotel. Each night we went to a different restaurant all just a stone’s throw away from the hotel. We didn’t realise how central the hotel was until the 3rd day, we walked to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon and really you could walk to all the tourist spots from this hotel if you wanted to, so do ask at reception for directions and assistance, they are very helpful and knowledgeable about Rome. On the whole we had a wonderful time at the hotel and would certainly recommend it to our friends

Delicious! A fantastic and varied feast served every morning. Room was very clean and comfortable. Tasteful decor. i enjoyed the lounge and general calm both in the hotel and surrounding area. Reception and workers were helpful at all times. My only minor criticism is that the toilet flush was slow and not always working.

Just stayed here recently and I don't know how people think this is such a great place. The breakfast was mediocre at best and the people that work in there (breakfast room) are half dead. My room was dark with no window per se and the rugs were filthy. The place is old and in need of major renovations. The elevator takes forever to get from one floor to another. However, the location is great and Francesca is a charming host. BTW - get rid of the miniature cat pillows - they're horrible.

This hotel has excellent location in Rome. Also staff is friendly, smiling and serving well. Our room was in fourth floor, clean and room enough for two persons.
We will stay in this hotel in future too.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Residenza In Farnese stands between Piazza Farnese and Via Giulia in the heart of Rome. The building belonged in times past to the Teutonic Knights Military order of the Blessed Virgin. In the 18th century the palace became property of the Sinibaldi Family who restored the Fagade in its original style giving to more prestige and importance. Today this old monastery houses a cozy hotel of 31 rooms in their original layout and fitted with poor art furniture made in the northern Italian region of Veneto and antique furniture restored by skillful craftsmen who also enhanced the household furnishings and the finely decorated china and glassware. The splendid frescoes that embellish some rooms contribute to create an atmosphere of past times. The passion for art and restoration is accomplished by two ladies Marisella and Carla who run the Residenza in Farnese with particular care offer guests a warm and prestigious welcome. The professional hotel staff will do their best to satisfy all guests requirements with courtesy. La Residenza in Farnese your home in Rome offers a pleasant stay with a friendly homely atmosphere and the charm of an ancient house. ... more   less
