4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012 via mobile

I stayed there for four nights in the end of October. The room was really clean, spacious and comfortable. It would have been nice to have a mirror inside the bedroom, though. The staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was ok, and there was no wifi signal on the first floor (where I stayed). But overall, the hostel is really good and I'd definitely go back!

I stayed in this hotel for five nights in November. As a solo female tourist, I was a bit concerned about travelling solo. However, this hostel is in a very safe part of Rome. It is surrounded by goverment buildings, and seems to be quite an exclusive part of Rome. Many hostels are located near Termini station, but this really is quite a dodgy area.
It is located only 5 minutes from Trevi fountain, and other sites are easily walkable from the hostel.
Very clean and friendly.

We stayed 3 nights at this hostel in October. We had a private bedroom and bathroom and both were sparkly clean. The room only had the bare essentials, but it was comfortable and in a good location, close to the metro, train station, and in walking distance of some of the main attractions. Only thing that was lacking was the breakfast.

a good 15-20 minute walk from termini station, this hostel is tucked in a quiet and secluded cul-de-sac at the end of Via Umbria. once you find the building, hit the elevator on 3rd and you are there.

the rooms and bath areas are very clean. the kitchen was always tidy and the common area is very functional (with free wifi, huge cushions and a good collection of books/maps for you to use). Up front you can see that the hostel is well maintained.

It just took me a few minutes to reach popular spots in Rome i.e. the Spanish steps (15 minute walk) Piazza del popolo (20 minutes) and for a few euros you can take a cab to reach Vatican city.

Need to caution the girls though that at night Via Umbria is a bit dark so if you are coming home from a night out it's best that you ask your taxi driver to hang around a bit. The place is pretty much secure but on the safe side just have the taxi stay for 2 minutes until you get safely inside. During the night the huge gate/door is locked and the hostel entrusts you with your own gate key but since it's dark outside it's best to also have a flash light together with your roman taxi driver.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice, there is no special room! :)

I recently stayed at this hostel. I found the staff helpful and friendly. The rooms are bright and clean. There is a nice communal kitchen and lounge/computer area. It is enjoyable using the old fashioned lift to reach the hostel. The hostel's location is fantastic. Only a 10 min walk to trevi fountain and Spanish Steps. I will book again sometime. Thanks La Controra, Rome
