We have returned from a 10 day trip to Rome. We stayed at the hotel veneto, and it was the only complaint about our trip. We chose it for the convience to everything plus the price. The room was small but clean, the bathroom was like a closet. The hotel staff was rude and didn't offer to help us in anyway. The night staff were the worst. We asked for a wake up call the second day and didnt get it so missed a tour we had paid for. when I told the man at the desk he just shrugged his shoulders like he cared less. We asked where we could find a electrical converter, and the man just gestured with his hand that it was up that way. There was a mentally ill man out in front of the hotel door one evening who was yelling at everyone who came and went. He yelled at the people who were getting in and out of taxis and you couldn't get in the hotel without him jumping and screaming at you. The staff knew he was outside but did nothing to make him go away. One final complaint about the hotel....... It had a bad odor throughout the building. We will never stay here again and we will never recommend it to anyone.

Good hotel in a nice location. A little noisy in the mornings from passing traffic, but that's Rome for you ! Staff were ok. The room was very clean, though a little on the 'tired' side and is probably due a refurb. This was the only gripe with it really. Would stay here again, in this great city.

We stayed here because it was located close by to a conference we were attending. We had booked well in advance and paid only 520.80 euro for 7 nights twin-share including breakfast in summer: it was a bargain. Many of the other people from the conference stayed elsewere and paid a lot more for a lot less. Yes, the lobby is clean and pretty and the rooms perhaps don't match up to the same standard. Our room was totally fine, though we were not sure if the aircon was really working. The decor is ye-oldie-Victorian with a few bits of peeling paint, but who cares? We had comfortable twin beds, a spa-like shower with multiple jets and a huge window that you could look out of and watch Rome go by. The breakfast in the rooftop dining area was the possibly the best part: juice, pastries & jam, choice of cereals and yoghurts, several kinds of juice and coffee (albeit from a help-yourself machine). Excellent if you want to eat up before a big day out. The staff were more overwhelmed/overworked than rude: they tried to help us with directions for a theatre they had never heard of before & looked it up online & in the yellow pages. You don't come to Rome for the hotel staff, you come for the excellent food and art, both of which are nearby. We came and went late at night and always felt safe.

There seem to be a lot of different opinions as to the quality of the hotel Veneto. When we stayed in August we found it to be well worth the price. The room was fine if a little old looking decoration wise. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There was plenty for breakfast although they could have had more staff clearing the breakfast room. There was little noise both inside and outside the hotel at night The location is good enough, close to Via Veneto and about 15mins walk to the Spanish Steps. The metro is about 10mins walk and there is a bus route that passes by the hotel. There is also a taxi rank about 2 mins walk away. There are plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance though some on Via Veneto can be a bit of a rip off

My mother and I, who are very Italian ourselves and know the meaning of Italian hospitality - we're shocked and appauled at the service of this hotel. The staff was so rude and inconsiderate, they actually got annoyed with us when we asked for directions! When we got there, the electricity for the whole building was out and they walked us through dark hallways and plopped us in an un air-conditioned room in the middle of August. When the building did get its power back, only the lobby was air conditioned - we spent three out of a five night stay sweating every night! You were barely greeted going to and from the hotel - nor at breakfast. The hotel said there was roof-top dining and when we got there, the restuarant was no longer even open! The ONLY decent thing about this hotel was that it was a two block walk from Via Veneto - however, our first night we were sick and just wanted to get out of there! Not worth the "bargain" price whatsoever.
