“Good hotel, away from the crowds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

The hotel is a little way from the main tourist areas, in a quiter area of the city. There where plenty of bus stops near by and the Metro is about 10mins walk away. It is about 20mins walk to Trvei Fountain and 30mins to the Colosium.

The hotel is clean and modern with a very ¨gold and glitz¨style. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was very large with a big bed and a whirlpool bath. It overlooked the street but there was no noise with the windows shut. There was air condition and free wifi in the room.

Breakfast was good but basic with no hot options.

The staff were all very polite, friendly and profesional

We had brought the Roma Pass and it gave us free travel on the bus and Metro which was helpful as the hotel is a little out of the way.

Quaint ! Yes the rooms are a little small by American standards and expectations, but queen bed was very comfortable, pillows and sheets were luxurious. Desk staff was always attentive and helpful all 7 days stayed at the Hotel. Breakfast was european continental, as expected and fresh daily. All great here for $140 eu per night end of April 2013. Thank you to the staff for making or first trip to Rome a memorable delight.

The service at this smallish hotel is excellent from the greeting to the goodbye. Our room, though small was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was generous, with excellent pastries, cakes and breads and of course the heart-starting espresso. A great entree into Rome.

Everything in this hotel was at moderate level. I personally prefer this kind of hotels - with no surprises, because they can be not pleasant one from time to time. Breakfasts quality was below average. Rooms are in the Renaissance style which I personally do not like. Not many well-rated restaurants nearby but you can find some in about 1 mile distance.

So, if you are considering to book this hotel my recommendation would be go for it if you are not planning to spend there much time.

I was travelling with my husband and two friends (two ladies).

Our room (a double one) was OK, not very large but klean and nice.

The room were my friends stayed (a twin bed room) was too small (they could hardly get around - and they are thin) and had no place to hang the towels in the bathroom, nor a place to put the toilette stuff!

Location is good (near Spnaish Steps and Piazza Barbarini). Breakfast was ok (continental), and the reception staff was kind and helpfull.

We would rather say that this is a good 3 stars hotel, not a 4 stars ....

The room was nice size with a large bath. Shower water kept occillating from hot to cold, but other then that it was okay. Near restaurants and main roads it was easy walking to nearby metro and bus lines. Breakfast was okay but if you wanted something more substantial, i.e. eggs, bacon, etc, it cost extra. Room had only central heat, no air condition but luckily it was a cool season and the open window was all we needed.

Room was clean, breakfast was good, kitchen staff nice and kind, some reception staff very helpful, others aren't.
In the first morning, just by coincidence, I found out that my family and I had no free breakfast. I approached reception, presented the booking paper from Hotwire which clearly had free breakfast in it, and was given the following answer by the receptionist - 'the booking record I have does not include breakfast, therefore it is your problem" - EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. The hotel manager wouldn't speak to me until I made it clear I wasn't going to pay for the breakfast. In the end it was sorted out and I wasn't charged, but the process was humiliating and disappointing.
The hotel does not respond to emails. Prior to my arrival I sent 2 emails regarding a baby-cot for my son, and had no reply. Moreover, on check-out I handed reception my stay-survey, in which it had a box that had to be ticked if you wanted a response email from the hotel regarding your survey answers. I ticked the box but never got an email.
To summarise - the place has a great potential, but the service needs to be improved.

Michele C, Manager at Veneto Palace Hotel, responded to this review, April 18, 2013
Dear guest,

we are sorry about the problems that you encountered during your stay.

The breakfast issue wasn't your problem, but was depending from a wrong comuncation from Hotwire to the Hotel.
That's why we had some problem to understand what's happened, and that's why we included the breakfast in your reservation.
We usually respond to the email within 1 hour after we received them.
Personally, I'm sorry that you find it disappointing, but I'm sure that the service that our staff provide is of the best quality.
I'm sure that if you will be our guest again, you will change totally your idea.

Thank you again for your feedback and wait to have you again as our guest
